Now before I start this post about “What To Expect at Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at Disney’s Hollywood Studios”, I first have to send a huge thank you to Disney Social Media Moms Celebration as well as Walt Disney World for providing my family a complimentary Memory Maker as well as special ticket access during the event.
There is no way that I would have been able to catch all of this magical moments with my camera, and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the show and download the photos afterward.
While my family visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the 2016 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, one of our main missions was getting the kids registered for the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at Hollywood Studios .
We actually attempted this on our first day, but arrived late so we were unable to get registered. Quick tip, make sure you get to the park first thing in the morning, registration is on a first come first serve basis with shows running from 10am to 7pm.
The next time we attempted to sign the kids up, we arrived plenty early. We were then successful and got our receipt with a callback time of 5:40pm and were told to show up 30 minutes prior to the start of the show.
Now only two out of my three padawans were able to sign up for the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple since the required ages are 4 and up. Not to worry though since my youngest was able to get his Star Wars fix at the new Star Wars Launch Bay attraction (see details below).
We then headed back to the park at our assigned time and the kids got fitted with their Jedi robes and with lightsabers in hand they were led through the crowd to the Jedi Training stage.
As you can see from their faces they were excited to learn the ways of the Force! I won’t give away all of the details from the show but it includes a short Jedi training session from an experienced Master Jedi and their apprentice.
Afterward each padawan must face their fears and confront whatever comes out of the Temple. As you can see they each got a turn trying to beat Darth Vader himself!
The younglings not quite ready to face Darth Vader were challenged by the Seventh Sister Inquisitor from Star Wars Rebels. At the end of the show there is one last surprise from Kylo Ren himself!!
Although the kids don’t get to challenge him to a lightsaber duel his presence was definitely amazing since my youngest while in the audience stared at every move Kylo Ren made.
At the end of the day everyone was all smiles, the Dark Side had been vanquished and clearly the Force was with us.
Here are five tips to make the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple experience go smoothly:
- Make sure you get to the park early to register before all time slots are filled.
- There are age restrictions with kids under 4 being unable to participate.
- Remember to report back to the location where you registered 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time for further instructions and costume fitting.
- Photo pass cards are handed out before the event starts; make sure you get the correct one depending on where your children are lined up.
- Relax and make sure you find a good spot for photos or filming and enjoy the show!
Whether you participate in the Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple at Hollywood Studios or not, the Star Wars Launch Bay is a must see to get up close and personal with Star Wars Characters!
This attraction opened on December 1st, 2015 in the former Magic of Disney Animation complex, and features character meet and greets as well as memorabilia.
As you approach Launch Bay you are immediately transported into the Star Wars universe by the pair of Stormtroopers patrolling the crowd and entertaining guests.
Once inside, you are immersed in everything Star Wars with replicas of various props used in the films and an area that takes you into the Cantina scene from Star Wars IV: A New Hope complete with Jawa characters walking around interacting with visitors.
After making our way thru the different galleries we made it to the Character Encounter area where we could choose between meeting Chewbacca or Kylo Ren. Since my boys are into everything Kylo Ren we decided to meet him first, as you can see from the expression on my 3 year old’s face he wasn’t too sure he liked Kylo Ren being so close!!
Next up was Chewbacca; we were all glad to see a fan favorite with my little one saying “hey get your hair off me”!
Upon leaving the character encounter there were still other areas to explore including a Star Wars themed game center where various Disney Infinity characters from the Star Wars universe were setup on multiple consoles for free play.
Also included in this area was a bank of tablets loaded with the latest Star Wars Angry Bird apps all set and ready to play. Needless to say it was tough to get the kids to leave this area!
One last stop was to look at all the items available in the Launch Bay Cargo store, where you can purchase collector items, original artwork and Star Wars themed clothing and toys every fan would enjoy. In addition, before leaving make sure you visit the Launch Bay Theater to checkout a short 10 minute film with interviews from some of the people that have helped bring the Star Wars saga to life.
As you can see Hollywood Studios is a destination for the beginning youngling to the total Star Wars Fanatic. I hope your find this information about Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple helpful and have fun at your next visit to the park.
