My son is a huge fan of the Goosebumps series, and there is no doubt about it when I see the stack of books sitting in his bedroom. Of course it was no surprise that my husband and I would take him to see the movie when it came out in theaters.
It really was a fun film to watch so when I heard it was coming to DVD, we were excited to see it again. Our family’s interest in the story also poured over into a Goosebumps Inspired Family Movie Night that would be perfect for Halloween.
Now before I could host this themed evening, I first needed to take a trip up to Walmart for a few supplies. There I shopped the baking aisle for squeezable icing, edible googly eyes, marshmallows, and then made my way over to the snack area.
There I located Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Popcorn, pretzels, and the next aisle over I found 1/2-liter 16.9 ounce bottles of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and added a 6 pack of Sprite to my cart.
To finish my list, I visited the frozen section for Lime Sherbet and found Milk Chocolate M&M’S® Chocolate Candies as well as Peanut M&M’S® Chocolate Candies in the check out line. Once I had what we needed, it was time to begin the festivities and Make It A Movie Night.
During the day, I prepped the Monster Eyeballs and Lawn Gnome Popcorn. After school, I then gave a few Slappy Makeovers with eye liner, blush, and lipstick.
Next up was the movie, and I quickly put the final touches on my Monster Blood Sherbet Floats.
To recreate both the Monster Blood Sherbet Floats and Lawn Gnome Popcorn recipes, check out the details below.
Monster Blood Sherbet Floats
What you will need for each serving:
2/3 Cup of Refrigerated Sprite
1/2 Cup of Lime Sherbet (2-3 Scoops)
Mini Marshmallows
Edible Googly Eyes
Squeezable White Icing
Green Food Coloring
A Lime
Directions:
In advance, create monster eyes by attaching the googly eyes to mini marshmallows with the squeezable icing.
Then cut a sliver into each marshmallow so it can be put over the side of a glass.
To finish put 2-3 scoops of sherbet, as well as 1 drop of food coloring, and Sprite. Lightly stir if needed to blend the food coloring and add a slice of Lime for the mouth.
You then have Goosebumps Inspired Monster Blood Sherbet Floats that is delicious and smiles at you!
Lawn Gnome Popcorn Serves Approximately 4-6
What you will need:
1 Bag of Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater Popcorn
2 Cups of Pretzel Sticks
1 Cup of Peanuts
Butterscotch Chips
Milk Chocolate M&M’S® Chocolate Candies
Squeezable White Icing
Directions:
Create the Lawn Gnomes by attaching M&M’S® Chocolate Candies to butterscotch chips with squeezable icing.
I suggest making as many as possible (The more gnomes the SCARIER). Then, set these aside on parchment paper.
Next, make the Popcorn and allow it to cool as well as remove any kernels. Then combine the pretzels, peanuts, and the popcorn.
Serve with Lawn Gnomes scattered on the top of the mixture. This makes for a SWEET and salty treat!
