Pinwheel Wreath! Easy Summer DIY Craft!

disclosure-for-site

May 21, 2015 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 29 Comments

Looking for an easy wreath to make for the summer? Check out how I made this Pinwheel Wreath.

I made this one with items from the Dollar Store and it took me about 30 minutes to complete. While you are here, also check out my Red, White, and Blue DIY Patriotic Decorating.

Pinwheel Wreath DIY

If you would like to recreate this Pinwheel Wreath you will need the following.

1 – 24 cm Styrofoam Wreath

15 inches of Ribbon

10 Small Pinwheels (This may vary depending upon the size)

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

(FYI, I already had the pinwheels, but the Dollar Store had a variety of them as well in different colors)

Wreath for Pinwheels

Directions:

First heat up the glue gun. Next, tie your ribbon at the top and loop it over the wreath.

Hot Glue Gun on back of Pinwheel

Then, remove the sticks from the pinwheels.

Finally, start gluing the Pinwheels on next to one another.

Finished Pinwheel Wreath

Make sure you put them as close together as possible to cover up the wreath underneath and hold them in place until they adhere.

Allow the glue to dry and you can then hang the wreath up immediately.

Red White and Blue Pinwheel Wreath

This is a simple afternoon DIY looks great on my front door and perfect for the summer.

Have you ever made a Pinwheel Wreath before? Did you use any additional items?

If you make this craft, enjoy! Plus, be sure to also check out my Red, White, and Blue DIY Patriotic Decorating.

That is adorable! I'm going to have to make one of these with the kids. I'll just have to keep them away from the hot glue!

You can also use straight pins instead of hot glue, I have one and it has been on my porch for 3 years!

We're always using dollar store items to craft for holiday decorations. Wreaths are so fun to make and affordable if you know where to shop. Thanks for an adorable idea!

I love this! I've never thought about using pinwheels for a wreath before! I made a ton of big pinwheels for my daughter's birthday party- I found an attachment kit at the craft store that made them super-easy to make. It would be fun to make pinwheels myself and then make a wreath from them.

I made this wreath but wrapped the form in blue ribbon so the green would not show.

I think when I do this I will also cover the foam form. Don't need to have the green showing when doing red, white and blue. Great idea though. Thanks for sharing.

This is a really cute idea. I think that buying the pinwheels from a bulk party site might be cheaper instead of $1/pinwheel. I also think you could use a colored pool noodle taped together if you do not want the green wreath form showing.
