New Years Wreath Homemade DIY

Thinking about making a New Year’s Wreath?

I made one this year with items I picked up at after Christmas clearance sales from Walmart and Kmart.  Plus I used wooden numbers I bought at Michaels.

If you would like to recreate this wreath, here is how I did it.

Supplies for New Years Wreath

These are the items you would need:

Wooden numbers – 2015

A basic artificial pine wreath 18-24 Inch

3 artificial Poinsettia flowers (pink or purple)

10 or more small decoration balls (pink, purple, gray)

Ribbon with built-in wire (purple)

Green florist wire or ornament hangers

Small Clear Command Mini Hooks, like this–> Command Mini-Hooks, White, 6-Hook

White Gloss Acrylic Paint, like this–> Gloss Acrylic Paint, 2 oz in White by Craft Smart

Foam Brush

New Years Wreath Numbers Unpainted

First step, paint the wooden letters.

This may require 2 coats and allow the paint to dry.

Second step, attach clear hooks to the back upside down.

Cut off the extra plastic below.

Third step, spread the wreath out.

Fourth step, wrap the ribbon around 8 times or less.  Then attach by wrapping it around the metal wire in the back.

Fifth step, add-on the numbers.

I ran an evergreen branch through the hook and twisted it around to keep it in place.

Final steps, add-on the Poinsettias up at the top and put on the decorative ball ornaments with the hangers.

It was that simple to create, and now I have a fun and festive wreath at my front door to welcome in the New Year.

Do you have a New Year’s Wreath? If so, what items do you incorporate into your craft?

I hope this gives you holiday decorating inspiration, and if you make it for your home ENJOY!

I love this. It is colorful and festive and a great way to bring in the New Year. So easy to swap out the numbers each year also so it is a wreath that can keep on giving!
