Easy Red, White, and Blue Cake! A Simple, Yet Pretty Dessert!

July 4th Cake with Fruit, Red White and Blue

If you want to wow your guests with a pretty Patriotic cake, but you don’t feel like making one from scratch, this Easy Red, White, and Blue Cake is a great option.  This is a simple way to create a festive dessert with less of an effort.

These pictures are actually back from 2008.  If I make it this year, I could probably make the cuts of the Strawberries even better.

Here is what you need:

1 Box Cake Mix (plus whatever ingredients it calls for)

1 Premade White Icing

1 Container of Strawberries

1 Container of Blueberries (I recommend a large so you have plenty to work with)

4th of july Cake with fruit design, red white and blue

This is how I did it.

1st, Make your favorite boxed cake.  I suggest doing this the night before or early in the morning of the day you are serving it.

I used a Red Velvet Boxed Cake Mix for this one, and followed the directions for the 2-9 inches. The 2-8 inch version would work as well.

2nd, Let your 2 parts of the cake cool completely.

3rd, Ice your bottom layer of the cake, stack the next, and ice all over.

4th, Wash and pat dry your fruit, and cut the strawberries that are similar in size into 3rds. If small, cut into halves. Pat the strawberries dry after you cut them as well.

5th, Arrange your design. FYI, I lined the bottom edge of the cake with blueberries, which is optional if you don’t have enough.

Tip: When you put the strawberries along the edge, make sure you push them a little forward and then back into the icing to prevent them from sliding off (there should be a little gap between the strawberry and the edge).

And that is it!  So easy, but it looks like A LOT of effort.

I recommend eating this the same day it is prepared or the next, and definitely refrigerate the leftovers.

So what do you think? Do you do anything similar?

If you make it this year, let me know what you think.

Wow, that looks both beautiful and delicious. My problem is when I bake is that my cakes taste good but they don't look so great.
