If you are cool like me, you probably have never heard of a mood board. (LOL) Needless to say I went to Wikipedia and learned that it basically means what it says, “a visual presentation or ‘collage’ consisting of images, text, and samples of objects… to convey a general idea or feeling about a particular topic.”
This is generally used by graphic designers, interior designers, and other creative artists. However, it is a great way for anyone to express their creative side and it reminds me of a vision board but for present feelings.
Now this Mood Joy Mood Board Décor Set is geared towards tweens and young teens as a way of self-expression.
It is like a one page scrapbook to express your feelings and style.
The set comes with a Corkboard as well as crafting supplies such as yarn, satin strips, beads, pom pom cording along with punch out designs, card stock, as well as push pins to attach the items. In addition, it has a bottle of Sage Room Spray.
For ages 8 and up, I handed this over to my 12 year daughter to let her design it and she really enjoyed the process.
Not only did she attach the ribbon and yarn to the bottom, but she added all sorts of glam to the cork. She also would look at it and move things around to get it just right.
I like that the Mood Board Décor Set customizable and has words of encouragement with ways to positivity express feelings.
Another aspect that I like about this set is, since it all about personal expression kids can change the décor out and add their own items to it. Once we hung this up in my daughter’s room, she added a photo of her cousin and a note card with her friends names and info.
