Creating a Homemade Headband Holder and Making a Brighter Difference!

With 3 children I am constantly on the hunt to find activities to keep them entertained. If I can do this and teach them to be good advocates for the environment, well I have definitely made a difference in all of our lives.

Recently, I did this very thing after being inspired by Neutrogena Naturals Brightening Moisturizer to upcycle and create a Homemade Headband Holder with my daughter.

Neutrogena Naturals Brightening Moisturizer is a product that delivers superior results and uses pure ingredients that are naturally derived.

In addition, their packaging is designed with the goal of minimizing impact on the environment by using recyclable, post‐consumer materials and renewable resources whenever possible.

❤ I believe that it is important to lead by example to make a “Brighter Difference” in our children’s lives. Everyday actions like recycling and upcycling can help preserve beautiful views like this. #ad @Neutrogena Naturals Brightening Moisturizer has packaging designed with the goal of minimizing impact on the environment by using recyclable, post‐consumer materials and renewable resources whenever possible. I have been using Neutrogena for some time now and was excited to add the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub as well as the Neutrogena Naturals Brightening Moisturizer with SPF 25 to my daily and weekly routine . Both products smell wonderful and the Moisturizer is made with 100% naturally derived sunscreens with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB Protection.

Plus, I can definitely get on board with a product that helps women, and strives to do the same for the environment.

Over the years I have continued to teach my kids about being good stewards for the Earth. Recently we explored a new way to recycle, and also discussed the importance of preserving natural locations in our area.

Plus as previously mentioned, my daughter and I developed an upcycling DIY project out of an Aluminum Vegetable Can. If you would like to recreate, the details are below!

Creating a Homemade Headband Holder

What you will need to make a Homemade Headband Holder:

  • Empty Aluminum Can
  • Yarn (We used a rainbow design)
  • Glue
  • Safety Scissors
  • Construction Paper
  • Small Binder Clip

Creating a Homemade Headband Holder

Directions:

First wash and dry an empty can and make sure there are no sharp pieces sticking out. Then, tie tightly and knot the yarn at one end and start wrapping the yarn tightly around the can completely covering the metal.

Do this until you almost reach the end and leave the last couple off yarn pieces loose. Next, cut off the yarn and loop it under the loose end under the yarn 2 or 3 times, pulling tightly.

Cut off any extra and use the glue to push the left over down on itself. You can then add the clip, flipping the top piece up and pushing the bottom piece under. This will be what you use to hang up the Homemade Headband Holder.

Next, cut out the construction paper to decorate the end of the can. My daughter used purple and pink to make hearts and glued them on.

Tip: When you put your nail into the wall, be sure to do so at a angle this allows it to stay level.

Once finished, this can be hung up on the wall and it is ready to be used immediately. In addition, you can also set this container on a desk to use for small toys or pens and pencils.

What do you do to make a Brighter Difference in your family’s lives? What items have you upcycled in the past?

Neutrogena Naturals Brightening Moisturizer is a lightweight formula with 94% naturally derived ingredients that provide moisturization while skin-brightening lemon peel, an effective bionutrient, works with your skin to even skin tone in just 4 weeks.

Needless to say this craft was easy to make and immediately made a Brighter Difference in my daughter’s room and in our day.

Love the headband holder. Right now I have mine on a shelf in my bathroom that has a hook on it. More than one time it has fallen off and it is pretty close to my toilet. I need to make something like this before mine do fall in the toilet.

Your daughter is so talented! That is great! I always had mine thrown in a drawer and they get all tangled up - this would totally help with that...and my son's headphones for his computer desk! Love it!

This will be perfect for organizing my Daughters collection of headbands. I have been using Neutrogena products for years. It makes my skin so soft and smooth.

What a cute headband holder. It looks like your daughter had a good time creating that and something she will be able to get a lot of use out of it. Neutrogena products are my go to products for my skin. They are simply the best.

I am with you when it is trying to find ideas that could keep both my kids busy with some creative activities that could help them learn something as well. The headband holder looks so easy to do, yet looks amazing with nice colors.

Well that is a clever ideal. I still do wear a lot of headbands as I hate hair on my forehead ever. What I did was put up a hanging paper towel holder & left an empty tube on it which I covered with contact paper to be pretty. It is great for hanging your headbands.
