Are your kiddos fans of the book series Upside Down Magic?
If so, they well be excited to know that the Movie featured on Disney Channel is now out on DVD. Plus they will get a kick out of assembling this Magic Water Bottle Craft Activity.
What you will need to make this Upside Down Magic Water Bottle Craft is:
Empty water bottle
Beads or confetti
Glitter
Water
Food Coloring
Canola Oil
Masking Tape
Directions:
First, put enough glitter to cover the bottom of the Magic Water Bottle Craft. Tip: Older children most likely can do this activity on their own, however younger children will need to be supervised.
Then have your child select and put 10 to 20 colorful beads (or confetti) in the bottle.
Next fill the bottle a third to a halfway full with Canola Oil. Then fill the bottle up the rest of the way with water.
Next have your child add drops of their favorite food coloring or combine colors to make new colors like orange and purple. The more you add, the darker the water gets.
We made 2 versions of purple. One with 3 drops of red and blue food coloring and one with just 1 drop each. FYI, there is a big difference in how clear the water is.
Then place the water bottle top back on and add tape around the rim to secure it.
Finally, it is time for some Upside Down Magic. Simply shake the Magic Water Bottle Craft upside down and see the different parts inside combine and separate. It is really magical and sparkly.
This is a fun activity for hand eye coordination as well as an easy STEM activity for teaching about mixtures and solutions.
