The following is a sponsored post on behalf of Safer Internet day as part of the Mom It Forward Influencer Network. Opinions expressed are that of my own.

Do you have kids that play online, have social media accounts, or surf the web for content and videos? If so, you will want them playing Interland, a Free Online Kids Game Teaching Families How To Be Internet Awesome!
Just because we discuss safer internet practices or put parental controls on our kiddos devices, doesn’t mean that our work is completely done.

It is important to remind them to be SMART, ALERT, STRONG, KIND, and BRAVE when they are online. This can help them avoid potential dangers such as; situations of fraud, endangerment, hacking, as well as bullying.
Be Internet Awesome and Family Link have come “Together for a better internet” and developed apps and fun programs like Interland to help celebrate Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

Why you will want them playing Interland, a Free Online Kids Game Teaching Families How To Be Internet Awesome?
This game play included a combination of questions to advance in a quest, as well as tasks through lands of water, mirrors, desert, and floating islands.

My 12 year old and 10 year old both played at Interland and to my surprise really dove into the adventures. They both realized that they still had plenty to learn about internet safety and they persisted in the games until they achieved the points needed to advance to the next level. This certainly speaks to the quality of the program considering that my 12 year old is quite the gamer.
Through 4 levels of adventures as Internauts my children were taught the qualities of how to be SMART, ALERT, STRONG, KIND, and BRAVE when they are online.

Reality River – Don’t Fall for Fake
They first started in Reality River – where they learned about phishing scams as well as verifying websites and information before you share online. If you make a mistake, you lose points and end up in the water.
Mindful Mountain – Share With Care
Then it was onto Mindful Mountain- where they explored the importance of sharing information like personal photos with the correct people such as family or friends. Through positioning mirrors, they reflected information to the right recipient.

Tower of Treasure – Secure Your Secrets
Next up was Tower of Treasure – this explained why it is necessary to create strong passwords and keep them secret as well as keeping emails and messages secure. This involved cruising through the desert to grab messages.
Kind Kingdom – It’s Cool To Be Kind
Finally they played Kind Kingdom – which gave them the task of combating bullying through obtaining floating hearts and spreading them to others. Plus, part of the game was to speak up about the bullies spreading negative messages.

My daughter especially liked Kind Kingdom and how she was able to make other characters happy and protect them from bullies.
Once completed my children received a congratulations as well as a downloadable certificate for completing levels.
My 12 year old said he liked how Interland reminded him of the information he may have forgotten. BONUS: Both my kids wanted to play it again even after they went through their levels.
