The following post about “Family Resolutions For A Happy And Healthy New Year!” is sponsored by Florida KidCare and opinions expressed are that of my own.
I usually don’t commit to New Year’s Resolutions only because I am a busy Mom of 3. However, when it comes to the happiness and health of my family, I want to stay on top of things.
The organization of it all can be a challenge (like remembering if I scheduled appointments or have saline mist in my medicine cabinet) and I could probably do a better job of preparing throughout the year. Sometimes though, it is more about becoming aware of how family time is spent and this is an idea that both parents and kids can recognize.

Resolve To Add More Hugs
Life is ever increasingly busy and it is important to stop and take the time to hug one another. The kiddos are only young once and I don’t want to miss out on an opportunity to let them know I love them. Plus, I feel that it is vital to helping my children kids feel secure and to also know that I care.
Read Together More Often
Sitting down and reading with my crew is always been something I have enjoyed, and this also is something my 3 kids can do together. Again, this helps to slow us down to enjoy quality time as a family. Plus, it is great for brain development, encourages children to use their imagination, and helps beginner readers to recognize words. We actually did this often in the summer with Harry Potter books, and we can’t wait to get back to this fun evening routine.
Keep Up To Date With Checkups
I sometimes find myself scratching my head wondering if or when I scheduled the checkups for the kiddos. This can be quite the challenge navigating school, vacation, and extra curricular activities. My hubby tends to be in charge of the dental appointments, but I setup the well care visits. I have found that I just need to pick a day, call the Doctor to make arrangements, and then enter the dates into my Google Calendar so I don’t forget.

Encourage Better Eating Habits with Meal Planning
Finding something that everyone will eat is a challenge with multiple people in a household. I do find that if I ask them what they want, I have better success with them finishing their dinner. It is amazing how often we will eat in, if I put a little planning into place.

Limit screen time and get active
Seems pretty easy to implement, but this also applies to Mom and Dad. If you want to get kids away from the TV or an electronic device, you need something to entertain them in its place. I intend to increase our visits to the park playground, and you can see my other recommendations for Ways To Get Kids Active To Promote a Healthy Lifestyle!
