I have probably mentioned this a lot over the past year, but now that we have been spending more time at home due to the pandemic, I have been looking for more activities to keep the kiddos busy.
One of the ideas that I thought would be fun, would be some type of at home gardening. Thanks to Back To The Roots, I was sent an Organic Terrarium Microgreens Kit and a Self-Watering Grow Kit to do that very thing.
My daughter and youngest son decided to start experimenting with indoor gardening via the Organic Terrarium Microgreens Kit.
This product comes with a Reusable Terrarium Planter, Decorative sand, and glow-in-the-dark stickers to customize the terrarium, along with Certified Organic microgreen seeds that sprout and grow in just 7 days.
In addition, it comes with directions in a Discovery Booklet with fun STEM Activities for kids like plant lessons and ways to explore your world.
It also includes a ruler that can be used to measure the greens as they grow as well as a chart to write growth progress on.
My kids enjoyed to process of assembling this kit as well as attaching the stickers. Of course the neatest part was watching the seeds grow starting on about day 2 and caring for the plants as they continued to grow.
After observing all of the growth, they eventually got to eat the greens on a chicken sandwich after Day 10.
My daughter also put together the Self-Watering Grow Kit for her bedroom. This kit includes a reusable Frosted Glass Planter with 16oz reservoir, Inner Grow Pot, and grow medium, and a Self-Watering Wick System that moves water up to the plant as needed.
In addition, this product includes a $5 rebate for the purchase of a live plant. We happen to already have Aloe Vera on hand and decided to use that in our planter.
This Self-Watering Grow Kit is a great way to learn about Hydroponics as well as the responsibility of keeping a Succulent plant alive.
FYI only after a couple weeks, we started to see new growth on her Aloe Plant.
The main thing is to remember to aerate the roots once a month, add water as needed, and fertilize.
