Wouldn’t it be great to not only feel good about the delicious Holiday food you are eating, but to also know that you are making a positive impact on the environment.
I was given an opportunity to do exactly that first hand, and Become Carton Smart with Pacific Foods in Tetra Pak Cartons.
Tetra Pak cartons are made of 70% paper from re-grown trees that are FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council). They use 1/3 of the packaging compared to cans, which results in 60% less landfill waste.
Their unique packaging process preserves the flavor and nutrients of food without the use of preservatives. Plus, these cartons are space savers, easy to open, and are re-closable so the rest can be saved for later.
I used my product to create a meal and dessert for dinner this past week. I made Chicken in Rice in the slow cooker with Pacific Foods Chicken Stock, and served Pacific Foods Cranberry Sauce as a side. Both products were easy to use, and the packages went straight into my recycle bin.
I also made an Almond Pumpkin Bread with the Pacific Foods Organic Pumpkin Puree. It also was easy to add to my recipe, and I had more than I needed. I resealed the leftovers, and put the packaging into the refrigerator for my next batch of bread.
FYI, instead of shortening, I substituted in a 1/4 cup of Apple Sauce, and 1/4 Cup of Olive Oil (greek yogurt works as well), it turned out delicious.
Of course I had to add a little powered sugar to it, and I even sent some to school for my kid’s teachers to enjoy. To see the original recipe visit Pumpkin Almond Bread Recipe.
