Fall is here and like many other families, we have Pumpkin Festivals, Pumpkin Bread, and Pumpkin Smoothies on the brain.
However, people aren’t the only ones who wouldn’t mind an Autumn flavored food.
Since we adopted our Boxer Princess, I have been wanting to make her homemade treats. She happens to also be a dog that loves ice and the kids and I thought it would be fun to make her some type of frozen goody.
Since she has had different fruits and vegetables as well as yogurt, I figured I would give a Pumpkin flavored dog treats a try.
I combined Greek Yogurt, a Ripe Banana, and Pumpkin and put into a silicone mold with nicely portioned hearts. These were a perfect size and a great representation of how much we love her.

Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipe
Makes about 2 Cups of Mixture
3/4 Cup of Greek Yogurt
3/4 Cup of Pumpkin Puree
1 Ripe Banana
Directions:
First, mash the ripe banana. Then add the Pumpkin and Greek Yogurt and combine all three.
Add the mixture with a spoon to silicone molds and then place into a freezer.
After a few hours, the Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipe should be frozen and can be transferred into an air tight container to place back into the freezer.
Not only have we put this treat on my dog’s food, but give it to her while she is playing outside as a reward. Needless to say, we are now on our next batch.
FYI since this is made of regular everyday ingredients, my kiddos got curious and says it tastes like a smoothie.
Tip: Before you get started confirm that Xylitol is not used as a sweetener in any of the ingredients since that is hazardous to pets. You may want to test out a small amount to make sure that your dog doesn’t have any allergies as well as observe your dog as they consume a frozen treat.
Another fall treat for the entire family, is watching a fun and silly family friendly movie together.
