A special thank you goes out to Lionsgate for sending our family a copy of Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs as well as sponsoring a giveaway. Opinions expressed are that of my own and I hope you enjoy the Apple Donuts Recipe!

Recently the kiddos and I were given an opportunity to review the film Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs.
Now I wasn’t exactly sold on the idea of altering the original Snow White Story, others have tried to do this with other fairy tale classics and sometimes they don’t live up to the original.
However, after watching this film with comedic aspects as well as themes of positive body image and the age old adage of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” I can tell you that I was impressed.
Not only was my family entertained by the story, but I really think that this is one of the best kids films to be released onto Digital, On Demand, and Blu-ray/ DVD in 2020.

Speaking of 2020, since my family has been social distancing I have been experimenting with making donuts. I ordered silicone molds off of Amazon and so far I have made a Sour Cream variety.
Since this story is based on the poison fruit being turned into shoes (and one of the characters actually makes Snow White treats), I thought it was about time for me to try an Apple Donuts recipe.

Now it took me a couple of tries, but after having my 3 children taste test I finally found a combination that they really like. If you would like to make my Apple Donuts Recipe, the details are below.
Apple Donuts Recipe – Makes a Dozen
1 Peeled and Chopped Apple
2 Eggs
1 Cup of Flour
3/4 Cup of Sugar
1/2 Cup of Cinnamon Apple Sauce (4oz container)
1/4 tsp of Salt
1/4 tsp of Baking Powder
1/4 tsp of Baking Soda
Nonstick Cooking Spray

DIRECTIONS:
To get started, I first preheated the oven to 325 degrees.
I then combined the Sugar, Eggs, and Apple Sauce in a bowl on low with a mixer. This should take a about 30 seconds.

Next, I added the Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, and Salt continuing to mix for another minute until it was completely combined.
You may need to take a spoon to help mix in the dry ingredients.

I then sprayed the silicon molds with a non stick spray and chopped the apple. I placed 5 to 6 small pieces of chopped apple into each and evenly distributed the mixture into each section with a spoon.
Next I placed the molds onto a cooking sheet and tapped it on the counter to remove any bubbles. This was then placed into the oven for 30 minutes. If in doubt, use a toothpick to confirm they are cooked through.

AFTER REMOVING THE MOLDS FROM THE OVEN AND 5 MINUTES PASSED, I TRANSFERRED THE DONUTS BY FLIPPING THEM OVER TO COOLING RACKS.

FYI, this apple donuts recipe is great served warm or cold. My kids ate them in about 2 days, however be sure to put any leftovers in an air tight container.
