Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape!

See how my daughter has been making a Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape to let her friends know that she was thinking of them during a time of social distancing. Plus, check out a giveaway sponsored by Craft Project Ideas.

Since we have been staying at home for online school, I have been trying to find ways for my children to transition to this new environment as well as connect with their friends.

Not only have they been video calling through Google Duo and Facebook Messenger, but my children have been texting friends. In addition, my daughter even started making a craft to send to her friends in the mail.

Using supplies like beads, cardboard from a cereal box as well as friendship thread and duct tape, she started working on custom bookmarks for her friends.

Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape!

We happen to have different colors of duct tape on hand, and thanks to a Goody Box of items from Craft Project Ideas we were given, we had the other items needed to make a Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape.

Looking for a way to help your children reach out to their friends during times of distance? Check out how my daughter made the Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape.

What you will need for this craft:

Friendship Thread

Alphabet Bead Mix

Cereal Box

Duct Tape

Ruler

Scissors

Hole Punch

Pencil

Permanent Marker

Directions:

First, she first measured out 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 by 7 inches on the cardboard on the cereal box with the ruler and a pencil.

My daughter also picked out the thread color and beads to be added to the bookmark.

Next, she picked out her friends favorite colors, initial, and name beads. Then, she cut out the bookmark shape with the scissors.

In addition, she started covering the cardboard completely with the duct tape. We found it easier to lay the cardboard on top of the tape first.

Tip: Make sure the scissors are sharp enough to cut the Duct Tape.

Then, she used the hole punch on the top of the bookmark and cut out 14 inches of friendship thread.

Next up, she looped the string through the hole and added beads to the bookmark. She secured the beads by either placing a bead with a smaller hole on the end with a knot or tying an alphabet bead on the end.

She then completed her Bookmark Craft With Duct Tape by adding custom designs with the permanent marker and adding a personal message to the back.

How have you been keeping in touch with family and friends during social distancing?

This was such a heartfelt gift to her friends and has helped her pass the time and shorten the distance.

Yes, we have been staying in contact. I started a "chain letter" to the grandkids - and they are passing it on to have all the answers as well as adding their words of wisdom/happenings in their home. They think it is super fun!
