A special thank you goes out to SHOUT! KIDS for sending my family The Jungle Bunch DVD to review! The Leaf Rubbing Craft and opinions expressed are that of my own.
When I was asked to review The Jungle Bunch DVD from SHOUT! KIDS, I really had no idea what to expect. This was a film that was new to my family, however it was summer vacation and I was definitely looking for something to entertain my kiddos.
Well we received The Jungle Bunch DVD in the mail and I decided we would have a movie night. I popped a few mini bags of popcorn, got settled in our living room, and proceeded to watch.
Can I just say that we all really enjoyed this movie!
There are action scenes, comedy, as well as a great story of how Maurice the Penguin was raised by a Tiger. Plus, it has a great theme of taking care of those who can not defend themselves, as well as a great message about friendship along with adoption.
The film is not rated, but it is definitely meant for kids with only a few “kick butt” references as well as mild fighting, and minor crude humor.
Leaf Rubbing Craft for Kids
After we watched the film, I set up a jungle themed Leaf Rubbing Craft for my younger kiddos.
It is great for hand eye coordination and a wonderful way to incorporate nature into a craft.
If you would like to recreate this Leaf Rubbing Craft, this is what you will need:
2 Pieces of White Paper per child
Fresh leaves (I used fern)
Animal Foam Stickers
Tip: I picked up the animal stickers at The Dollar Tree.
To get started, first locate various kinds of leaves around your yard to create a jungle rubbing on the paper.
Then, peel the labels off of the crayons you will be using. We ended up incorporating greens, brown, and blue into the craft.
Next, place the leaves between 2 pieces of paper and begin creating different designs by rubbing the length of a crayon across the top.
Tip: You may need to hold the paper down for younger children.
To finish the Leaf Rubbing design, add the animal shapes to create your own Jungle Themed Craft.
More About The Jungle Bunch DVD:
Get ready for the wildest ride of your life! The Jungle Bunch is now out on DVD and digital from Shout! Kids, and it’s a jungle of fun for the whole family.
Maurice may look like a penguin – but he’s a real tiger inside! Raised by a tigress, he’s the clumsiest Kung-Fu master ever. Along with his friends, The Jungle Bunch, he intends to maintain order and justice in the jungle, as his mother did before him. But when Igor, an evil koala, wants to destroy the jungle once and for all with the help of his army of silly baboons, Maurice faces his biggest challenge yet.
