This post was sponsored by La Roche-Posay as part of an Influence Central campaign and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
With it still being warm out, my family is spending a lot of time in the sun!
Whether hanging out at the pool, playing on the school yard, or exercising during after school flag football practice, my kiddos are getting plenty exposure to the elements.
According to the Skin Cancer foundation, just 5 sunburns before the age of 20 can increase the risk of melanoma by a startling +80%.
These sunburns may cause irreversible damage that could make the skin more fragile over the long-term, which in turn leads to accelerated skin aging and increased risk of skin cancer.*
I want my family to continually protect their skin, so I downloaded the La Roche-Posay My UV Patch App to see what insights they had.
After answering a few questions at the My UV Patch App and reading their recommendations, here are Skin Care Tips For Families In The Sun!
In the times of the day that UV is at it’s highest, seek out shade for your family-
Want to know what the UV is like in your area? Download the FREE La Roche-Posay My UV Patch App at Google Play or the App Store for more details.
You could still get burnt in the water, so be sure to apply water resistant sunscreen-
According to La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids SPF 60 Sunscreen, their water resistant product should be reapplied every 80 minutes of swimming or sweating and also be reapplied after towel drying.
It takes about an egg-sized amount of sunscreen to cover your whole body-
La Roche-Posay recommends that their product should be applied 15 minutes before entering the water and every 2 hours after exposure.
Add additional sun protection-
This includes items like hats, shirts, and sunglasses. As you can see, my little guy is geared up for time at the pool.
Find a sunscreen for your child with the appropriate SPF-
After filling out a questionnaire in the app, it was determined that my child’s skin is best paired with a SPF 60. Visit the My UV Patch App for additional details on how to find the best SPF and see how effective your sunscreen is by monitoring exposure with the La Roche-Posay My UV Patch.
Are you looking to protect your family’s skin while spending time out in the sun?
The La Roche-Posay Anthelios Dermo-Kids gentle sunscreen lotion not only provides UVA and UVB protection through with Cell-OX Shield with broad spectrum SPF 60, but is also formulated to neutralize damaging free radicals in the upper layer of skin. It is water resistant and suitable for sensitive skin, and is pediatrician and dermatologist tested.
Look for this fragrance and paraben free sunscreen online at Amazon and in-store at CVS. For additional locations visit La Roche-Posay Store Locator.
Now if one of your family members does happen to have skin irritation or simply has rough patches, look to the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Soothing Multi-Purpose Balm.
Made with Thermal Spring Water, this formula is suitable for sensitive skin, is paraben and fragrance free, and can be applied to areas like your face including lips and nose as well as arms, legs, and feet. I am currently using this on a rough patch on my daughter’s arm.
