Mother’s Day Hand Craft Magnet Keepsake!

disclosure-for-site

April 29, 2017 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 33 Comments

To be completely honest, on Mother’s Day all I want to do is sit back and relax. This means a break from cooking and cleaning, as well as a low key kind of day.

I don’t really want for anything except spending time with my husband and kids, and I figure many Moms want something similar if not the same.

So in the spirit of an easy and fun holiday, I thought why not create a simple Mother’s Day Hand Craft Magnet Keepsake.

It not only freezes a moment in time for my kiddos hands, but it also represents helping Mom out for the day (by giving her a hand).

If you would like your family to recreate these Mother’s Day Hand Craft Magnet Keepsake, you will need the following:

  • Various Colors of Foam Sheets
  • Glue
  • Magnets
  • Safety Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Adhesive jewels or stickers
  • Optional: markers, stickers, and glitter glue

Tip: Most of these items can be found at your local Dollar Tree or Craft Store.

Directions:

To get started, first have your child select a color of foam for the craft magnet. Each of my children picked a different color. Then, take a pencil and trace their hand on the foam.

Next cut the shape out, I actually let my older kids to do this and I cut it out for my little guy.

Then hand over the foam cut out to be decorated. My kiddos used adhesive jewels, but markers, stickers, and glitter glue would work as well.

Next, add glue to the magnets and attach to the back.

Depending upon the size of your child’s hand you may need to add more than 2 of these.

To finish, allow this to dry for a couple hours and you will then have a Keepsake Hand to give on Mother’s Day.

You can even dress it up with a card, a coupon book for chores (and hugs), or slide it into an envelope as a present.

My kiddos had a great time making their Mother’s Day Hand Craft Magnet Keepsake and after they dried, I was able to apply these to my fridge.

I hope your family has just as much fun with this activity, and the Mom in your life enjoys a relaxing day!

Looks like a fun craft. We also have "paint" pens which could be used to color in the hands.

This is a great idea! I love seeing how much bigger their tiny hands get throughout the years! I have four little ones and they are growing up so fast, this would be fun to do every year to see the difference! I also love that it's a magnet so I can hang it, instead of putting it in a pile with other pictures and crafts!

Our kids always hand-make their gifts to us. We help them a lot of the time, but the sentiment is all theirs.
