The kiddos and I were invited to an advanced screening of the Animated Film SING, and I am glad we were able to spend an entertaining family evening together.
Just so you know this movie is like going to an awesome CONCERT and we were even dancing in our seats.
Now after watching this film with my children and discussing everything we liked, here are our 5 Reasons To See The Animated Film SING!
1. Be ready to follow the stories of relatable characters –
To name a few, this includes Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, a Koala trying to fulfill his dream and honor his father’s memory; Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, a Stay at Home Piggy Mom who is trying to get her moment all while juggling all the responsibilities of a parent; and Taron Egerton as Johnny, a Gorilla torn between the path set forth by his family and fulfilling his musical dreams.
All contestants have their insecurities and issues, and these moments are funny and easy for the viewer to empathize with. “Don’t let fear stop your from doing the thing you love.” – Buster Moon.
2. You get to hear favorite actors and actresses as animated characters and well, SING–
Not only do you get to hear Seth MacFarlane as a crooner mouse, but Scarlett Johansson rocks out as a rebellious teeny bopper Porcupine. Plus, Egerton shows off his skills as a vocal performer and I was totally wowed by his abilities.
3. Hearing Tori Kelly as Meena sing –
Between her version of “Hallelujah” and “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing”, well all I can say is it is SO GOOD! Seeing the kids expressions as they listened was totally awesome.
4. Opportunity to introduce the kids to Classic Songs and Performers –
Not only did we hear top 40 from today like hits from performers like Taylor Swift and Beyonce, but classics from The Beetles, Elton John, as well as Stevie Wonder.
5. Already mentioned that it is like going to Concert –
Well it really is, and I totally want this soundtrack for the kids (well me actually).

About the Movie SING:
Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it.
Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.
Five lead contestants emerge: Mike (MacFarlane), a mouse who croons as smoothly as he cons; Meena (Kelly), a timid teenage elephant with an enormous case of stage fright; Rosita (Witherspoon), an overtaxed mother run ragged tending a litter of 25 piglets; Johnny (Egerton), a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; and Ash (Johansson), a punk-rock porcupine struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo.
Each arrives under Buster’s marquee believing that this is their shot to change the course of their life. And as Buster coaches each of his contestants closer and closer to the grand finale, he starts to learn that maybe the theater isn’t the only thing that is in need of saving.
Featuring more than 65 hit songs, SING is Rated PG and in Theaters December 21! For more details about the film, check it out at the Official Website and follow along via the hashtag #SingMovie on Facebook , Twitter, and Instagram.
We left the theatre with smiles on our faces and a desire to seek out the songs we heard. I hope your family enjoys the film just as much as mine did, and don’t forget to continue the fun afterward by printing this Sing Movie Coloring Page!
