Vegetable Can Turkey Craft With Lollipop Feathers for Thanksgiving!

If you are like me, your family has a ton of candy sitting around your home from the aftermath of Halloween, read on below to see a family activity to put those sweets to crafty use!

Thanksgiving happens to be during my favorite time of year, I just love the cooler weather, family time, and all of the good food.

Since I am always looking for fun activities for children, I decided to set up a project for my kiddos called a Vegetable Can Turkey Craft With Lollipop Feathers!

If you would like to recreate the Vegetable Can Turkey Craft With Lollipop Feathers, you will need the following:

Empty Vegetable Can

Various Colors of Construction Paper

Glue

Scissors

Pencil

Wiggle Eyes

Lollipops

Directions:

To get started, wash and dry an empty vegetable can, and make sure there are no pointy pieces sticking up around where the lid was removed.

Then wrap a piece of brown construction paper around the empty can, attaching it by putting a thin layer of glue along the outside.

While the can dries, cut out the feather shapes from construction paper. In addition, I also asked my kids to reflect on their favorite parts of this holiday and write those ideas on the back of their Turkey feathers.

Each feather should be 6 inches or longer and I suggest cutting out one first and then using it as a template for the others. Optional: We decided to cut out 2 of each color to create a fuller Turkey.

Then glue the lollipops to the bottoms of the feathers, attaching the side that is not open to avoid glue getting inside the wrapping.

Once the turkey can has dried, cut the top portion of the paper off leaving a round shape for the face.

To finish, glue on the wiggle eyes, a red wattle, orange beak and legs, and add the feathers to the inside of the can. You then have a Vegetable Can Turkey Craft With Lollipop Feathers!

Do you have any fun craft ideas like this one for Thanksgiving? I hope your family enjoys this festive activity as well as the upcoming Holiday Season.
