Mother's Day Frame Craft Activity

Are are looking for an easy Mother’s Day craft for your kids to create? Here is an activity that is great for hand-eye coordination and is also a fun way to honor that special MOM in your child or children’s lives. (FYI, this would be just as nice for Valentine’s!)

To recreate the Mother’s Day Frame Craft you will need the following:

  • 2-4 pieces of Cardstock Paper (Pinks, Purples, or even Patterns)
  • 10 Popsicle Sticks AKA Jumbo Wood Craft Sticks
  • Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

I was able to pick up the pieces of card stock as well as the ribbon and popsicle sticks at a craft store like Michael’s.

Mother's Day Craft Frame Supplies

Directions:

To get started, first cut and loop a 16 inch piece of ribbon around the top Popsicle stick. After it is attached it will be 8 inches long. Then, have your child place 2 Popsicle Sticks side by side with a 4 inch space between.

Next, have them glue the stick with the ribbon at the very top on each end. Follow with the remaining 7 sticks. It will look like a raft when it is completed and allow this to dry.

Next, cut out a 5 inch by 5 inch piece of cardstock paper. I used a ruler, pencil, and scissors to complete this. Then cut out small hearts from a different color of card stock. (Depending upon your child’s maturity they may need more or less assistance.)

Then, glue the 5 inch by 5 inch piece down on the flat part of the frame. Be sure to completely cover the ends with glue and press down. Your child may need to add more glue if the ends start to turn up. Finally, have your child glue on the hearts and add on a special “Mom” or quote with the markers. Optional: Add family photo or embellish with buttons.

This is a pretty frame that can be hung up by ribbon and alternatively you could also attach magnet strips to the back to hang it on a fridge or file cabinet.

Do you make anything similar for special family holidays?  Do you add anything different to yours?

The kids and I enjoyed making our special Mother’s Day Frame Craft, and speaking from personal experience our receiver definitely appreciated this gift.
