Jack O’Lantern Flower Pots! An Alternative To Using a Pumpkin for Halloween!

Check out how I created Jack O’Lantern Flower Pots! An Alternative To Using a Pumpkin for Halloween!

Jack O'Lantern Flower Pots 4

I went to Home Depot the other day and saw orange self watering flower pots.

Since I was in an Autumn state of mind, I realized that these looked very similar to fake pumpkins.

Of course I took it one step further, and the craftiness grabbed a hold of me.

I had bought a set of permanent markers the other day and as I looked at the containers I thought, “These would probably look great as Jack ‘O Lanterns.” I was right.

This Halloween craft was really simple to make, and I pretty much freestyled the “Stencils” from seeing other scary Halloween faces.

I also tested out artificial tea lights to see if these Jack O’Lantern Flower Pots would show up at night, and they did.  I was so excited.

In the end though, I decided to put various purple flowers into the pots to give my Jack “O Lanterns “Hair”.

I used Mexican Heather, Coleus, and a some funky looking flowers called Celosia (they remind me of a Dr. Seuss character).

I even had a little help as well with the watering.

Of course what is really awesome, is once Halloween is over I can simply turn them around and use them as Fall Pots.

Have you made a similar craft before?  What are the multiple uses you found for your container?

I am so happy about the outcome of these Jack O’Lantern Flower Pots.  If you make them as well, enjoy!

Love this clever idea! How fun! I'd probably be tempted to keep the pumpkin side facing out all year, they would simply make me smile every time I looked at them :)

I LOVE these!! Pumpkins are so expensive in Alaska that I hate to spend the money for a few days of 'enjoyment.' But, this could be for a LOT longer.

This is so creative and festive! My little boy would love to turn one of our pumpkin containers into a flower pot.

I love this idea! It's simple enough that I can do it on my limited time but super cute for the season, too! I wish I were creative! lol Thanks for sharing your creativeness! :)

This is an awesome and easy idea!! Pumpkins rot immediately if left outside here (it's still over 100!)

I really like this idea because I always worry about the kids cutting themselves carving pumpkins. These planters are really festive.

These are really cute and I love things that don't decompose and I have to throw them away. How clever to use the tea lights. Love it.

What a great idea. This would be fun for my 8 year old and so easy, plus you don't have all the gnats by your front door at Halloween time!

Those are so cute and they last so much longer than the Jack O' Lanterns too.
