5 Ways To Use Purex Fabric Softener Sheets! Plus, A Product Giveaway!

disclosure-for-site

August 20, 2013 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 61 Comments

I am a Purex Insider. Thanks to Purex, I received free Purex Fabric Softener Sheets to review. Opinions expressed are that of my own.

5 Ways To Use Purex Fabric Softener Sheets

Personally I have always used liquid fabric softener on my clothes, but when Purex offered to send me a box of their Fabric Softener Sheets to try, I figured why not check them out.

Purex Fabric Softener Sheets now offer 3 times the fragrance versus the old formulas.  They provide a fresh smell and give softness to laundry.  In addition, they reduce static cling and repel pet hair and lint. They come in 2 fragrances including Mountain Breeze and Sweet Lavender.

I received the Mountain Breeze formula to try, and I used them in my dryer. I used them alone, and I also used them along with the same scent of liquid fabric softener to enhance the scent even more. I asked hubby what he thought, and he said he could smell it on his clothes. Just opening them up made the laundry room smell great.

After I realized how strong these sheets were, I thought “I bet I can use these in other places that need some freshening up”.  So, here are 4 additional ways I used Purex Fabric Softener Sheets:

First, I taped one to the bottom of my son’s dirty clothes basket. It made the basket and his closet smell nice. This scent does fade over time, so eventually I will need to replace it.

Purex Softener Sheet Uses 002

Second, since it made my laundry area smell good,  I also hung one above the kitty litter that is also in the same room. This made it smell even more like a laundry room versus a litter box.

Quick Note: I knew there had to be a reason why I was holding onto these little decorative cloth bags, and apparently this was it.

Third, I placed one in a couple of the clothing drawers in fabric bags. This included my son’s sock draw. As I have put away his clothes,  it has been nice opening up a drawer to such a lovely scent.

Finally, I hung one in my bedroom closet. When I open it, I get to smell the Mountain Breeze. 🙂

Purex Softener Sheet Uses 004

I do really like the way these smell, and they definitely enhance the liquid softener scent. However, I still think I prefer the liquid softener as the primary one to use. Either way, if I can get the sheets cheap enough, I would definitely be open to using them in other ways in my home.

In regards to price, a box of sheets are more affordable than a bottle of liquid softener.  I checked them out online at Walmart.com at a price of $1.47 versus $2.98 for a 44 fl oz bottle of liquid . The sheets provide 40 uses, and a bottle can be used for 52 loads.

In addition, I learned the hard way to be careful with comforter covers. When I was drying mine it was open and a sheet got caught inside. Apparently it got stuck to one section and the sheet stained it a little. This can happen with any softener product, and thankfully there are instructions on the box on how to help remove the stain if this occurs. The instructions were helpful and most of the stain did come out.

Do you prefer to use liquid softener vs. softener sheets? What other ways do you use fabric sheets?

I actually stick dryer sheets on my furnace filter and/or on the air vents in room so scent comes out when air or heat is on. lavender is special in bedroom and helps to go to sleep.

I prefer the dryer sheets. I tuck a couple behind each shutter all the way around the house. It stops bees and bugs from nesting behind there. I also rub the lightbulbs with them!

I use dryer balls and cloth dryer sheets - sometimes I put a drop of lavender essential oil on it. Don't care for the chemicals the liquids & sheets have. I'd use one in smelly shoes. Thanks for the contest.

Great ideas and these are also great to remove odors from cars. My dad bought a car that a squirrel died in the trunk and the previous owner could never get rid of the smell. The price was adjusted according to the smell (lol) and I suggested to my dad to use a one of these and the smell was gone in no time.

dryer sheets can also be used to repel lint and dust from building around electronics and your base boards, just rub a sheet where it collects.

Dryer Sheets are amazing to use to clean clear glass shower doors, they easily remove soap scum and leave the glass clean and clear! Just use moistened rub and wipe dry right away with a towel - no more trying to scrub soap scum and hard water spots off!

I use dryer sheets for everything....well except the dryer since I now use wool dryer balls in there. I stack them between linens in the closet to keep them fresh, in the storage tubs with the off season clothing, under the seats on the couch, in the camper (repels mice and keeps the closets smelling fresh, used ones are fantastic dust catchers for baseboards. Stick them in heating vents to freshen rooms, in sneakers between trips to the gym, in stored suitcases and purses, under the entry way mat, wipe over drapes or upholstery for a quick freshen.
