Chuggington DVD “Brewster’s Little Helper” Review and Giveaway!

disclosure-for-site

March 9, 2012 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 36 Comments

Chuggington has an all-new DVD, called Brewster’s Little Helper, and my kids and I were sent a copy to review here on At Home Moma!

We are huge fans of Chuggington and my daughter and I usually watch it a couple times a week on the Disney Channel.  Plus, we have seen a few of these episodes, and since my son goes to school full time and misses the morning cartoons, he was excited to see this DVD.

Chuggington which currently airs daily on Disney Junior, is a contemporary CGI-animated TV series created for preschoolers. The story line follows the three young trainees, Wilson, Brewster and Koko, as they learn to become independent trains, and learn how to work together on various projects. And, in these episodes you get to spend a little more time with the character Zephie and her misadventures.

Brewster’s Little Helper, has six fun filled episodes including “Brewster’s Little Helper“, “Koko Takes Charge”, “Brewster Knows Best”, “Zephie’s Zoomaround”, “Nurse Wilson”, and “Wilson and The Paint Wagon”.

A few of the main themes in this DVD were “Listening Skills, Following Directions, and Asking Permission“. I don’t exactly what other parents are facing, but one of my biggest challenges lately is getting my kids to listen and pay attention.  I explain to them that they need to do this,  because it can keep them from making mistakes, missing out, hurting themselves, or getting punished for not doing what they were supposed to do. In these episodes, many of the characters struggle with Listening Skills, Following Directions, and Asking Permission, and because of this they end up facing consequences.  I think my kids need to watch this DVD a couple more times and maybe it will help sink in the information.

What is really great about this DVD, is it helps distract the kids while I do chores or get dinner ready. I feel good about the content they are watching and that they are getting a good lesson or two out of it.

This DVD was released February 14, 2012 and you can look for it in stores now and at Amazon.com! It runs for 61 minutes and includes Bonus Features of Coloring & Activity Sheets.

I like Koko because she's modeled after the Japanese bullet train and I used to live in Japan. She's also a girl! :)

We don't have a favorite as we don't have any other Chuggington movies. I really hope that we win so we can see what the hype is about!!
