Make Your Own Gummies Kit!

Recently, I corresponded with Verve Inc., makers of Glee Gum in regards to their Candy Making Kits. They had been working with other mom bloggers like myself to get the word out about their All Natural Candy making kits and Gum products. It was decided that my blog would be a great place to showcase their items, and I was sent the Make Your Own Gummies Kit to try out with my family and samples of Glee Gum chicles.

To learn more about Glee Gum, check them out on Facebook or Twitter.

First thing, my husband couldn’t wait to get into the gum.  As you can see by the picture, one of the boxes is already open.  We all tried the gum including my son, and liked it.  I definitely recommend 2 chicles at a time for the full flavor.

If you would like to try out Glee Gum, here is a link to a coupon for Buy One Get One: Glee Gum Newsletter

Glee Gum chicles are made from all natural ingredients.  They are gluten, dairy, soy, and nut free.  Glee Gum has no preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or artificial sweeteners.  To find a location that carries Glee Gum near you, click here:  Glee Gum Locations

Second, my son and I made the gummies.

About the Make Your Own Gummies Kit

You do make the gummies from scratch. There is a pamphlet in the box that details the directions, plus it has information on how gummies can be made from either gelatin, an animal based product, or carrageenan and agar, a Seaweed based products.  The gummy kit contains the Seaweed based product, which helps to support the livelihood of many individuals in the Philippines.  For more information click here: Education Gummie Making

Putting the Seaweed Into a Bowl to Soak
Observing the Seaweed
Pouring the Powered Seaweed in the Pot
Making shapes in the Molding Starch
Mixing the colored and flavored sugar in the seaweed
The mixture poured in the molds
After I cut off the excess to make shapes, I’m a perfectionist.
The spare parts

Whether they listen to the educational material, help make the candy, or enjoy the end result, this is a fun activity that the entire family can get involved in. We had a great time doing this project together, and of course we had even more fun trying the gummies out.  However, make sure you get the mix to come to a complete boil before you pour it into the mold, otherwise they will be misshapen (my mistake).  And, once you put the sour mix on them, don’t put them back in to the refrigerator, store them in a dry place so they don’t get gooey.

I think these kits would be a good stocking stuffer.  They are recommended for ages 8+, but my 4 year old had a great time making the candy and asked questions about the seaweed and how it is made. Keep in mind though,  this should be done in the presence of an adult since there is cooking involved.
