Thanks to Fox Home Ent Insiders my family was sent a SHREK Anniversary Party Pack to host a movie night and providing film details. Opinions expressed are that of my own.
Are you a fan of the films featuring SHREK? Well then you will be excited to know that a SHREK Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray and DVD has recently been released as well as a SHREK 4- Movie Collection DVD Set to commemorate the original movie coming to theaters 15 years ago!
We actually celebrated this ACADEMY AWARD® winner’s anniversary by watching all 4 movies in a row and hosting an SMAMPATHON party with Shrek Themed merchandise and recipes.
To get our celebration going, earlier in the day I first froze “Swamp Talk Mugs” to prepare for “Gingy” Gingerbread Man Root Beer Floats.
We then started watching the first SHREK and snacked on fruit flavored Green Swampcorn, AKA Popcorn.
Then my 2 older kiddos proceeded to put on their Ogre ears and draw Ogres on random pieces of paper.
From there we moved onto the next film, SHREK 2. This movie has such a fun story with the Fairy God Mother, Prince Charming, and Fiona’s Parents, and while we watched, the kids began to color one another’s faces with green Shrek Stick Face Paint.
Then it was time to watch SHREK the Third. My kids had seen this one, but I had not. As I learned the story with the Villains, I started to prepare the “Gingy” Gingerbread Man Root Beer Floats.
FYI, this has to be one of the easiest desserts that I have ever assembled.
To recreate “Gingy” Gingerbread Man Root Beer Floats, you will need the following:
Frozen Vanilla Yogurt
Pepperidge Farm Gingerman Cookies
Red, Blue, and White Squeezable Icing
Optional: Gum Drops
First decorate your “Gingy Men”. I already had the icing on hand, but next time I would add gum drops to the body with icing.
Next, add 2- 3 scoops of frozen vanilla yogurt to your Mugs. Then pour over the Root Beer and add the whipped cream.
To finish, top the floats with your “Gingys” and serve. Without a doubt, these floats taste DELICIOUS!
We then took a break after the 3rd movie to have dinner, and then proceeded to watch SHREK Forever After.
This was our first time watching the last installment of this series, and I have to admit that it was probably one of my favorites.
We had so much fun at our SWAMPATHON, and enjoyed all of the neat extras that made it special. Look for both SHREK Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray and DVD and SHREK 4- Movie Collection DVD Set in stores and online now!
I hope you get inspiration from our event, and have a blast hosting your own SHREK Themed Family Movie Night!
