I have been doing this for a couple of years now, and thought someone else might appreciate this trick! If you are new to wood floors this will definitely come in handy!
I happen to have hard wood floors and with furniture, it is a must to have pads under tables and chairs to avoid scratches. However with 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a cat, these pads don’t last very long.
In addition, I have come to realize that most of the adhesive pads I find are too big for the legs of my furniture and end up hanging over the sides. I really don’t like the way that looks. Plus, I don’t like it because dust, hair, and everything else gets caught on the over lapping sticky part.
After a few times of putting these on, I figured out that I could cut these in half with utility scissors for a better fit. It reduces the stickiness and doubles the package. I made sure to center the pad in the middle of the leg and also made sure it was big enough to properly support it.
FYI, you should use your best judgment based on your individual furniture needs, this may not work for everyone so Safety First!
(See how at one point they were hanging over, I did not like that!)
This has definitely saved me time from trying to find the “perfect” fit. Plus, since saving money is a priority for me, as long as the furniture is properly supported, I am going to do this to stretch them out a little further.
Have you already discovered this trick? Do you have another way that you create floor pads for your furniture?
If you try this out, let me know how it works for you.
