If you are looking for a sweet show for young children that introduces them to cooking and baking as well as the great friendships between a group of fairies, then your family will want to check out the Butterbean’s Café DVD.
I was not familiar with this series until I caught an episode recently on Nick Jr. and I definitely love the concept. Plus, my younger kiddos have enjoyed watching the shows on DVD this summer.

Nickelodeon’s hit animated preschool series, Butterbean’s Café, makes its DVD debut July 30, featuring seven episodes from the series’ first season, which follows a fairy named Butterbean and her adventures running her own neighborhood café and bakery.
Serving up delicious healthy snacks and sweet treats to the residents in their community of Puddlebrook, Butterbean, her fairy friends-Dazzle, Poppy and Jasper-and her little sister Cricket, combine magic and teamwork to make their cafe the most awesome eatery in town.
The series showcases creative cooking and features a curriculum with social-emotional lessons that highlight kindness and gratitude, and leadership skills.
Plus, this exciting DVD collection includes a special double-length episode, as well as a guest voice appearance from celebrity chef Carla Hall (The Chew, Top Chef) in “A Grilled Cheese for the Big Cheese!”
To make this Butterbean’s Café DVD release even more delightful, recipe cards are included with each purchase, giving fans the chance to cook just like Butterbean and her friends.
My family decided to create the Dazzle’s Apple Donuts included in the DVD package and this recipe was a lot if fun and YUMMY!
FYI, you will definitely need to help younger children apply the spread and be ready to get a little messy. You may also want to invest in an apple corer.
To recreate these Apple Donuts, you will need apples, sprinkles, and spreads like peanut butter, hazelnut, and we added in cream cheese.
A parent needs to use apple corer and a knife to slice the donut shapes. Tip: I coated the apples with a lime juice wash to help keep the apples from turning brown,
These Apple Donuts were a fun activity and turned out cute. My children asked if we could make them again. FYI, I also made these printable Butterfly Recipe Cards so my daughter could write her interpretation of the recipe. It was neat to see how she thought we did it.
Butterbean’s Café DVD will be available from Nickelodeon and Paramount Home Entertainment on July 30, 2019 for the suggested retail price of $10.99.
