Fall Craft: Apple Stamping Burlap To Create Artwork!

The other day, I was shopping at Walmart and saw frames wrapped with burlap. I immediately thought of Fall and wondered if these would work for apple stamping.

I had already planned to do a craft with my kids, but visualized this turning into a piece of artwork for my home.

After some thinking and a practice piece for myself, I figured out that I could make it work.

This really was a fun craft to put together and after I made the first, I went ahead and made another for my Mom’s house.

She gladly accepted the Apple Stamping Artwork and already had a spot in mind to display it.

If you would like to recreate this craft, you will need the following:

12×12 Burlap Frame

Red Acrylic Paint

Paint Brushes

2 INCH Letter Stencils

Large Apple

Paper Plate or other surface for your paint.

Surface to paint on (I used newspaper).

Directions:

To get started first cut an apple down the middle. Make this as straight of a cut as possible. (Feel free to snack on the other piece)

Then dip this into your paint being sure to cover the stamp side completely and carefully place this onto the Burlap Frame.

I did this in 2 rows of three, and you may need to stamp this down a couple times to get full coverage.

Tip: Make sure you carefully lift it up and remove any extra paint from the side of the apple (or your fingers) to avoid drips.

Once you have stamped all of your apples, use the paint brush to make the stems.

Then it is time to start arranging the stencils for the letters. I decided to just go with the word Fall, however you could use different sayings as well. I then used my paint brush to carefully fill in each letter.

Once finished, allow the Burlap Frame to dry over night. I decided to tie a piece of RAFFIA at the top I found at the Dollar Tree. I feel that it gave it the finished look and a cool rustic feel to the piece.

Of course once my kiddos saw this, they were ready to do their own version of Apple Stamping.
