Recipe for Mother's Day

If you are looking for a way to tell a special MOM in your life just how SWEET she is, then I have an EASY craft idea for you!

This Mother’s Day Recipe Card Pouch Craft is a neat way for your child or children to express their feelings. Plus this makes it easy on a Dad or the Grandparents to put together, since this activity requires minimal supplies and most of them can be found at your local Dollar Tree.

What you need to make a Recipe Card for Mother's Day

To get started with the Mother’s Day Recipe Card Pouch Craft you will need the following:

  • 4×6 Index Card
  • 8×12 Foam Sheet
  • 40 Inches of Twine
  • 24 Inches of Twine
  • Hole Punch
  • Pencil
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Foam Stickers
  • 10 Hersey’s Kisses or Mom’s Favorite Candy

Weaving the Pouch for the Recipe Card for Mother's Day

Directions:

To get started with Mother’s Day Recipe Card Pouch Craft, first lay the Index Card at the top of the Foam Sheet.  Then fold over the bottom of the foam to create the pouch. From there use the hole punch to create 3 holes along each side and 2 along the bottom. Then take the 40 inches of Twine and have your child weave it through and tie it off at the top.

Next, have your child fill out the Recipe Card with a pencil. I recommend this because it avoids frustrations since it can be erased. For our particular card, I decided to start with the words “Recipe for Mother’s Day” on the top line and then, “Ingredients”, followed by “- Lots of Kisses”, since we were using that candy in the pouch.

Putting on the Stickers for Recipe Card for Mother's Day

Together you can then determine how many ingredients will be listed.  If they are too young to fill it in, ask your little one to share their ideas with you. To complete our recipe, we ended the card with a saying like “Directions: Mix the kisses and other parts together to make my MOM”.

Next, glue the card to the top of the Foam Sheet and allow your child to decorate the inside with stickers or markers. Once the glue dries, you can insert the candy. We placed 10 Hersey’s Kisses into our pouch. To finish the craft, you can seal the gift by folding it in half and wrapping the 24 inches of twine along the outside and tying it into a bow. You could even add a note using the hole punch, and writing out “To: Mom From: The Kids“.

Recipe Card for Mother's Day Gift

After assembling this, I think the Mother’s Day Recipe Card Pouch Craft would also make an excellent gift for other women in our lives like a Grandmother, Aunt, Supportive Friend, or even a Neighbor.

I hope your family enjoys creating this easy and fun craft and Happy Mother’s Day!
