Easy and Cheap Thanksgiving Craft – The Hand and Foot Turkey!

disclosure-for-site

My kids and I put this together yesterday, and this craft has actually been a family tradition of ours for probably the past 3 years.  I like it because it is a way to measure your kid’s feet and hand size from year to year, plus it is a keepsake that the kiddos get a kick out of.

All you need for this craft is:
  • scissors
  • a piece of brown construction paper for the body
  • a piece of white paper for the eyes
  • a piece of orange construction paper for beak, Turkey feet, plus feathers.
  • a piece of red, yellow, or any other color of construction paper you would like to add for the feathers
  • glue
  • stapler
  • a pencil

Here are the instructions:

First, you draw the eyes of the Turkey on a white piece of paper and cut them out.  Then you trace your child’s feet on the brown paper.  (This will be used for the Turkey’s Body)

Then trace both hands on one of the pieces of construction paper (you will be using this for the feathers). Cut those out and use them as a template for the other pieces of paper. Cut all of those pieces out including the feet you traced on the brown paper.

The left over orange will be used for the beak and the feet.

Then staple all of the hands (feathers) together alternating colors out.

You are now ready to assemble the Turkey with glue.

I let my son glue the parts to transform it into the Turkey.  My daughter needed a little bit more assistance.

And that is all it takes, you now have a Hand and Foot Turkey!

In the end, I turned my kid’s Turkeys over to the back, wrote their names, the date, and their age, this way, I will always remember a little bit of what they were like at this time.

I hope you and your family enjoy this craft as well!

Happy Thanksgiving,

At Home Moma
