Halloween Candy Wreath! Decorating for Parties and Trick or Treat! #TrickOrSweet

Halloween is right around the corner and that means time to pick up lots of candy! Between Trick or Treat, school functions, and parties, it is definitely the season for spooky sweets.

I had this very idea in mind when I bought supplies and products needed to create a Halloween Candy Wreath.

Hersey Large Bag Halloween Candy at Walmart #TrickOrSweet

On a recent visit to Walmart, I took a stroll over to the floral section and found a 16 inch foam wreath as well as 2 spools of 1 7/16 inch 45 feet purple ribbon. I then located paper letters nearby and clothes pins in the home section.

Next, I made my way over to the seasonal area to find the candy. Currently there are Large Variety Hershey Candy Bags at Walmart that make stocking up super simple.

I ended up getting a variety bag with my favorite chocolates including Kit Kat, Reeses, as well as Heath bars to donate to a Fall Festival. Look in store NOW for exclusive Halloween orange Reese’s featuring the message “Boo.”

In addition, I purchased a bag with Jolly Rancher Chews, Lollipops, Twizzlers, and chocolates to use on the wreath and to fill up my Trick or Treat bowl.

If you would like to recreate this Halloween Candy Wreath Craft for Halloween, you will need the following:

Hershey Candy Bag

16 Inch Foam Wreath with a flat surface

Small paper letters that spell a saying

Wooden Clothes Pins (14-20)

2 Spools of Ribbon (1 7/16 inch 45 feet)

Glue Gun

Scissors

Black Magic Marker

A sign (FYI, the ones below were added for downloading and your printable convenience)

Instructions:

To get started, first lay out the letters and clothes pins on the wreath to determine how many to use. The clothespins should be alternated in and out. Then, color the clothes pins black with the magic marker.

Tip: Color one end of the clothes pin first, let it dry and then do the other side and repeat.  This helps reduce the marker getting on fingers.

Next, tightly wrap the ribbon around the foam being sure to overlap at least half each time around. Then hot glue the very end to the wreath, this will secure it.

When finished, cut out a thin strip of the ribbon measured to your desired length (I did 20 inches total) and tie it off. Loop this at the top so the wreath can be hung up.

Next, glue on the letters over the top of the hanging ribbon to secure it in place and start gluing on the clothes pins. I was sure to be generous with the glue to make sure they were attached. Tip: Allow the 2 pins between the letters to hang down more so the sign can be attached.

Finally, once the glue dries print one of the signs out using the 5X7 option and cut it to fit. You can then add Hershey Candy to the clothes pins.

I think this wreath would be awesome if you needed to step out with the kiddos, or to hang up for guests to grab a treat as they are leaving a party. Plus I think it would make a festive holiday decoration inside, just simply leave off the sign.

Do you put out a Halloween Wreath for the season? Have you ever created a candy wreath before?

What a fantastic idea, I have to admit I'm not keen on opening the door at Halloween but I could pop one of these up and they could help themselves. x

What a cute and creative idea. We are not going to be home on Halloween night, but with this the kids can still get candy.

Oh this would be PERFECT for where we just moved. I will have to do this because this is exactly what I need we will be out, my dogs will go nuts if anyone knocks and we only have a few people with access to where we live - and I don't want to leave them without.

That is such a cute way to leave candy out for people while you are out with your own kids. I will work with my son to make one of those for our door.

LOVE this! I could totally see doing this in our new house or making one of these to give to a friend. I think mine would be covered in Reese's…although I don't see those lasting as long… ;) Nicely done! #client

I like that idea. It'd be fun too to have up the whole month of October for people to take, like the UPS/Fed Ex guys, visitors, etc. :)
