Make Busy Weekday Mornings A Little Easier! Plus $10 Paypal Giveaway! #BrewYourBreakfast

September 22, 2015 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 57 Comments

Now that school is back in session and my husband has started a new job, I am having to be a little more efficient in my morning duties. To keep up with the day and to get everyone ready on time for school, I try to remember to do a few things to make busy weekday mornings a little easier.

A special thank you goes out to Nature Valley Bistro Cups for sponsoring and inspiring this post today.

Make Busy Weekday Mornings A Little Easier!

First, don’t delay what can be done in advance – Now I am as guilty of procrastination as anyone else, however I do try to do what I can the night before. That means getting gas for the car on the way home from school, ironing and setting out clothes, packing lunches in advance, and even taking a shower. I also somewhat style my hair so it is easier to work with the next day.

Second, get to bed at a decent hour – If I know I need to be up early and handling the majority of the morning duties, it is necessary for me to head to bed early. There have been too many times that I went to bed late and completely dragged throughout the entire day.

Nature Valley Bistro Cups Brown Sugar Pecan

Third, have easy meal solutions on hand – I keep fresh fruit, cereal bars, oatmeal, and simple to make foods that can be prepared in the toaster for my kiddos. Plus, of course I have plenty of coffee for MOM!

Speaking of Oatmeal… Nature Valley has created a delicious new product that can be conveniently made in a brewer machine.

Nature Valley Bistro Cups in Coffee Brewer

Nature Valley Bistro Cups are available in Apple Cinnamon Almond and Brown Sugar Pecan flavors and are easy to prepare.

Simply place the oatmeal pouch content in a cup, then insert the Bistro Cup in the brewing machine, finally pick the 6 ounce option and brew. Once it is ready, stir, and allow to stand for a minute. It is that simple.

That looks so good. I will definitely have to try this. I love to make breakfast muffins and have them for a few days already pre-made. I also love to have smoothie bags portioned out so in the mornings I just have to blend them!

I like to plan ahead the night before so when I wake up I know what the kids are wearing, what I'm wearing, etc. We also have easy breakfasts because my kids would rather sleep in so they wake up and are out the door within 30 minutes.

I try to prepare as many tasks as possible at night after the kids are in bed. For example, preparing school snacks, outfits, and more so I have plenty of time for preparing breakfast and other important things come morning.

My tip is to have a game plan in addition to having all the clothing and backpacks ready to go the night before. My husband and I share the duties to get our son up and going on school days and we each know what to do before we go to bed the night before so there is no confusion.

Go to sleep with your blinds or curtains halfway open. That way, the natural light of the rising sun will send a signal to your brain to slow its production of melatonin and bump up its production of adrenaline, a signal that it’s time to wake up. When the alarm goes off, you’ll already be half awake.

Our mornings are always busy here. So, we prep the night before so that everyone is ready to pretty much head out the door the next morning. Also, setting my alarm an hour a before I actually need to get up helps to ensure that I can hit the snooze button without sleeping in too late.
