If you are looking for a few easy short cuts to this year’s 4th of July Party, or just want to add pretty Patriotic Holiday Decorating to your home, Oriental Trading has some great solutions.
I was given an opportunity to try their products out first hand, so I ordered a variety of items including a wreath, candy lollipops, pinwheels, American Flags, and small white tinplate pails. In addition, I got 2 packs of loom bands so my kiddos could create their own patriotic crafts.
Of course the easiest Patriotic Holiday Decorating was putting the decorative metal Americana Star Wreath at my front door. It has a bit of a rustic look and is very elegant. A family member immediately complimented it when she came to the door.
FYI, it does clang when the door opens and closes, so I eliminated the sound by adding 3 felt chair pads to the back.
Next, I got busy with making some cute Patriotic Holiday Decorating centerpieces with 4 of the items I received.
I used the white pails as my base and made 2 different kinds of decorations. First, I made a craft with pinwheels and lollipops, and then I made another with American Flags. Check out this Red White and Blue Pinwheel Wreath.
Since the flags and pinwheels are taller than the 3 inch pails, I removed 2 1/2 inches from each flag poll with utility scissors and also did the same with the pinwheels by cutting off 5 1/2 inches.
For the fill for each pail I used red, white, and blue construction paper and turned it into confetti.
You will need something in each pail to keep the items standing up and secure.
To create the confetti, I folded each piece of paper about 9 times into an accordion, and then cut them into thin strips. I mixed the colors and added the paper to the pails.
I have to admit that it was really quiet while I was doing all my decorating. My kids were busy entertaining themselves making Patriotic Loom Band Bracelets.
Needless to say, everyone in my family will be getting “Red, White and Blue” bracelets including myself.
