Is the kiddo or grown up in your life a LEGO fan? If so, the you will want to pick up a copy of the The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Blu-ray and DVD out May 7th as well as create this easy Emmet Shirt craft.
Things may have changed for the worst in Bricksburg, but Emmet still has his same “Everything Is Awesome” attitude.
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part includes catchy songs as well as an introduction to new characters like Rex Dangervest, General Mayhem, villain Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi, and the MOM played by Maya Rudolph.
There is plenty of comedy and surprises in the story (especially from Lucy,
Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi, and Rex). This film is rated PG and the story line definitely resonates with the dynamics between brother and sisters making it great for the entire family.
Ready to make your own Emmet Shirt to wear when you watch the movie?
This is what you will need!
– Download the Printable Emmet
– 3 D Puffy Paint (Black, Red, Brown, and White)
– Yellow T-Shirt (I found these at Walmart)
FYI, it was my intentions to only make these t-shirts in black, but my daughter wanted to color them in with the Brown, Red, and White. I am glad she persisted, because I think it looks great either way.
To get started, first Download the Printable Emmet to print and slide this inside the shirt so the black print shows through.
Then, take the black puffy paint and carefully trace the outline.
Tip: Test the bottle out first on a paper towel and lightly press on the bottle as you make your way around the pattern.
Once you finish, allow this to dry for 3 hours.
You then have an Emmet T-Shirt that is ready to wear. However, do you want to take it up another level?
For color, leave the piece of paper inside the shirt and fill in the pattern with the brown (hair), red (tongue), and white (teeth).
Tip: You want to leave the paper in because the paint can bleed through. I actually learned this the hard way.
Finally, allow your paint to dry for at least 3 hours or when completely set. You then have your very own Emmet Shirt To Celebrate The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Blu-ray and DVD!
