To celebrate my family finishing the book THE BFG by Roald Dahl, I decided to surprise my children with Breakfast with THE BFG!
Now I don’t want to be spoiler so if you have not read the book, you might want to avoid all the details of our breakfast. Otherwise, if you know all about it and are just as excited as we are, read on.
First I wanted to share that until recently, I have never heard of this story. However, I started seeing the advertisement for the Disney film and was intrigued.
In addition, I had started reading chapter books with my kids and had just finished up another Harry Potter. I thought starting THE BFG would be a nice a break from our current series and a fun way to prepare for the upcoming film.
Well once I started reading, my kids were totally intrigued by a little girl named Sofie, Man Eating Giants, the Queen of England, and this magical and sweet BFG.

So while my kiddos were watching TV in the other room, I made breakfast and set the table.
Now to keep in line with the chapter “The Royal Breakfast”, I made fried eggs, bacon, sausage, toast (English Muffins) with a side of Marmalade, and potatoes AKA Tater Tots.
In addition, I had found really cool glass bottles and mason jars at the Dollar Tree. I put 2 drops of green food coloring into the glass bottles and poured in Ginger Ale.
These were then labeled with Frobscottle. (Tip: If you are not brave enough to let your children use glass containers, you could easily upcycle a 2 Liter Drink for a Bottle of Frobscottle, and I have seen Mason Jar glasses in plastic at Walmart.)
I then labeled each of the “DREAM” jars in the voice (with grammatical errors) of THE BFG and put details about my kids on each. Example: “I is a little girl who draws prety pikturs and dances – BFG”.
Finally I added a sign next to the table that read, “Welcome Human Beans *Mean Man Eating Giants and Snozzcumbers not allowed”. Looking for more BFG fun to create with the kiddos? Be sure to print these FREE The BFG Coloring Sheets and Activity Pages.
It was then time for the kiddos to come to breakfast. Dressed in their day clothes and my daughter with a crown, I explained that THE BFG prepared them a meal and dropped off Frobscottle.
Needless to say they thought is was really cool and could not get over the Bottles.
THE BFG hits theaters everywhere on July 1st! To learn more about the film visit Disney at movies.disney.com/the-bfg and also like THE BFG on Facebook at facebook.com/thebfgmovie and Follow Walt Disney Studios on Twitter: https://twitter.com/disneystudios.
After Breakfast With The BFG, Bottle of Frobscottle, and watching the recent trailer, the kiddos are super ready to see the movie in theaters.
