Disney Zootopia, Fun Film With Great Messages Plus $50 Fandango Gift Card Giveaway! #Zootopia

disclosure-for-site

March 7, 2016 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 122 Comments

A special thank you goes out to Fandango Family for sponsoring our movie night to see Disney Zootopia as well as this giveaway. Opinions expressed in this post are that of my own.

Zootopia Poster

Zootopia opened this past weekend and my husband and I decided to take our family to the movies to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday. FYI, Fandango made this really simple by the convenient option of purchasing tickets online as well as being able to walk right into the theater.

This ended up being an excellent gift because the movie was AWESOME- being that it was funny (I have a new appreciation for Sloths named Flash), it had excellent messages for children and adults, and kept 3 kiddos entertained throughout the story (this included a 3 year old).

Animal Chow Trail Mix

In advance, I had already been getting the kids excited about this film by making an Animal Chow Recipe as well as an Animal Cracker Parfait. Plus, they had been seeing the advertisements on the Disney Channel and were interested in learning more about Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

Now I don’t want to be a spoiler about specific details, but I will elaborate on the excellent messages in this film. The themes of this story really resonated with me because of the current political environment and society in general.

It think this movie would be a positive way to discuss with and teach younger children about what is going on in the country and the world around them. Especially the idea that a group should not be judge based on what others have done in the past.

Just because a species (or group of individuals) may have done something terrible, doesn’t mean that everyone in that group is like that. In addition, it addresses not labeling individuals based on what their perceived abilities are or where they come from.

As a parent this really impressed me because I could draw a real life parallel to gender and racial bias as well as individuals with disabilities.

Animals were classified as predators and prey assuming that the predators were the strongest and the prey were the weak. However given the opportunity, these individuals of Zootopia could rise to the occasion and be a contributing part of society.

A WORLD FOR BIG AND SMALL — Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Zootopia" features a vast world where humans never existed. With advanced transportation systems that accommodate mammals of all shapes and sizes, the modern mammal metropolis was built by animals for animals. Directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore, and produced by Clark Spencer, "Zootopia" opens in U.S. theaters on March 4, 2016. ©2016 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

Disney Zootopia is much like the United States, where it is the land of opportunities. It isn’t perfect and animals (people) still have their biases, but as a group they (we) need to push forward to rise above those issues and continue to unite to make it a better place.

Just like Gazelle (Shakira) sings “Try everything”. I won’t give up, no I won’t give in. These are ideas that I want my own children to take to heart.

SUPERSTAR — Revered worldwide by herds of fans, Zootopia's biggest pop star Gazelle is a socially conscious celebrity with equal parts talent and heart. Shakira lends her Grammy®-winning voice to the phenom. Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Zootopia" opens in U.S. theaters on March 4, 2016. ©2016 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

About the film:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything.

But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy.

We just finished watching #Zootopia and I highly recommend it for the entire family! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids, and we are now huge fans of Flash! A special THANK YOU goes out to @Fandango and #FandangoFamily for hosting my family today at the movies! #funlearninglife #Disney #DisneyFan #Animals #Animated #WaltDisney #Instadisney #disneyfamily #nickwilde #judyhopps #movie #film #disneymovie #AWESOME #Disneygram #disneymagic #DisneySide @regalmovies

Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”). Be sure to listen for familiar actors voices like Bonnie Hunt, J.K. Simmons, Tommy Chong, as well as Octavia Spencer.

Will you be taking your family to see this film? Who do you think will be the most interesting character in the movie?

I have already seen the movie, but I would love to take my nephew to see Zootopia. I really liked Flash the sloth even though he had a minor role.
