“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Influence Central for the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

Baby Safety Zone helping make safety fun one baby product at a time.

As a new parent, the idea of raising an infant and all of the worries that go along with that responsibility can be quite overwhelming. Even as our babies grow, this concern is still there because we want all our children to thrive and be happy.

For advice, we look to our family and friends, consult the doctors, and read articles online in order to find the best way to feed, treat, or educate our little ones. But who do we consult for baby safety information when we shop for the latest infant and toddler nursery items?

Baby Safety Zone

The Baby Safety Zone is a guide intended to educate and raise awareness in order to reduce nursery product related injuries. According to the site, its goal is to create an information hub and community for parents and caregivers to help make safety fun, one baby product at a time.

Created by the JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) this website provides safety tips, a “How To” for building a safe nursery, as well as information on products that have received the JPMA Certification like bassinets, cribs, high chairs, swings, as well as booster seats and toddler beds.

What is the JPMA Certification with Infographic Web

Guiding parents for more than 35 years, this certification ensures that products are sample tested annually to meet the highest safety standards.

I had not heard of the Baby Safety Zone until recently, and wish I would have been utilizing it when I had my first child.  Having that peace of mind while shopping for a carrier, stroller, or even a crib would have given me more confidence as a parent.

I think it also would have helped narrow my purchases down, and may have even changed a few of my selections. You can guarantee that I will be referencing it going forward.

Have you used the Baby Safety Zone to check out Infant or Toddler products? What items were you researching?

To learn more about the JPMA Certification Process and for other Infant and Toddler Safety tips, visit babysafetyzone.org. You can also find them on social media on Facebook and Twitter.

I never knew about this the JPMA logo either. I kinda feel guilty because I am always concerned with the safety of my children. Especially, things like a car seat because you never know if or when you will have an accident with a baby in the car. I will be looking for this logo next time that I have to purchase a baby shower gift.

My little boy is a no longer a baby (how sad!), but I still buy baby items for gifts. I'll have to check this site before making gift purchases.

This is a great thing to have for new parents - or people buying gifts for little ones. I do not have babies anymore but buy for friends little ones and would love to know that what I am buying is safe for their babies/children.

I used them when I was researching what products were the best when I was pregnant with my toddler. If something didn't have the seal (usually furniture) I wasn't going to buy it.

This sounds like a great resource for new parents. My baby is 11 now, but my niece is expecting in 2 months, so I am forwarding the info to her. I know she will really appreciate it!

I agree - we need to be aware of safety. Some things may be safe but don't have certification. While other things have certification so we know they meet standards.

I didn't know a whole lot about certification but I did know there was some kind of safety standards. I like this graphic. I will have to share it with my new mom friends and soon-to-be-moms.
