Patriotic Fun with Red, White, and Blue Ice!

disclosure-for-site

I actually did this for Memorial Day, but I thought this would be appropriate for Flag Day, Veteran’s Day, and the 4th of July!

All you need is 2 ingredients, Food Coloring and Water. It is really simple to do, you can either use a regular ice cube tray, or ones like this that I found at the dollar store.

I simply filled up cups with water first, then added the food coloring to my desired color, and then poured the mix in to the ice cube trays. I then placed them in the freezer until they froze over. I left the white as just plain ice.

If you want to get really creative, substitute the water with cranberry juice and a blueberry beverage, you can even add fruit before you freeze.  And definitely eat it outside if it contains juice, since it will get sticky!

My kids loved this idea, and we are going to do it again today.

Enjoy!
