The kids playing with the Gak.

Thanks to Nickelodeon, I was sent NEW Nickelodeon Gak and Floam to review here on At Home Moma with my kids. Both Gak and Floam have been reformulated and are both non-toxic, non-staining, phthalate, latex, and BPA free, and are both extremely entertaining products.

Gak is a stretchy and squishy material that can be pulled into all kinds of directions. It can have bubbles blown into it, and creates popping and weird noises when folded over and smashed. Each package comes with a resealable air-tight container to keep the Gak fresh and reusable. It comes in 6 colors including Rebel Red, You Blue It, Yakkity Yellow, Goo Green, Tickled Pink, and Purple Panic and is intended for children ages 6 and up.  It  retails for $6.99.

I actually asked my kids to do a demonstration of Gak and to tell us why they like it, so check out the following video:

This product has been keeping my kiddos extremely busy and they have been asking to play with it after school.  I think it is great that it keeps them occupied.  However, keep in mind that it can be messy and speaking from my own experience, make sure your children play with this on a hard surface and avoid carpet.  When you let your kids play with it, keep an eye on them and make sure they do not put it on their clothes or the carpet because it is a bit of a pain to get off.

Floam is a moldable compound that encourages dexterity and creativity in kids. It is intended for children ages 6 years and up and can be used to create different items including toys, flower pots, and items from their imagination. It also comes with an air-tight container so the Floam can be reused, but if your child wants to keep their creation, simply leave it out to dry to become a permanent work of art.  It retails for $6.99 and is available in 6 colors including Rockin’ Red, Blazin’ Blue, Electric Yellow, Glimmer Green, Posh Pink, and Purple Power.

The Floam Monster.

I really like this product because it encourages children to use their imagination.  But what is really neat, is it  comes with ideas for creations they can make.  My 6 year old son actually tried his hand at making a Monster.

The finished product.

With a little instruction from mom, he was able to make the Floam monster. We left it out to dry, so he can permanently keep his first project.
