A special thank you goes out to Visit Tallahassee for providing my family accommodations and access to various attractions. Opinions expressed in “6 Places To Visit In Tallahassee Florida With Your Kids” are that of my own.
Are you planning to travel into or around Florida, or simply looking for things to do for a family staycation? If so, check out my recommendations for 6 Places To Visit In Tallahassee Florida With Your Kids!
1. Mission San Luis – This location is an excellent spot to journey back to the 1700’s and learn about native Apalachee Indians and early Spanish Settlers that co-existed together in the area.
The reconstructed site consists of 60 acres of largely undisturbed archaeological deposits.
If you are thinking this will be a simple and quick tour at Mission San Luis, then you will be in for a welcomed surprise.
Between the rich North Florida history, hands on activities, and on grounds Reenactors, plan on a few hours of an entertaining walk into the past. Read 10 Awesome Activities For Families at Mission San Luis Tallahassee Florida for all the fun details.
The Curators have done an excellent job of telling Florida’s story over the past 12,000 years and the exhibits are well made and created to be hands on. My kids were especially impressed by the scavenger hunt, the Mastodon Exhibit, the Spanish Ship, and the Steam Boat. Visit museumoffloridahistory.com for hours of operation and directions.
3. Zip Lining at Tree to Tree Adventures – This outdoor attraction offers 3 different courses to choose from: TREEmendous Adventure, Canopy Crossing, and Soaring Cypress.
All courses are based on height eligibility rather than age, and can be completed without any previous experience.
As for course time, the Treemendous Adventures and Canopy Crossing are supposed to take 45 minutes to complete (this does not include the training).
The Soaring Cypress course is said to take over 2 hours depending upon your skill set. For complete details check out my post Zip Lining at Tree to Tree Adventures at the Tallahassee Museum!

4. IMAX at the Challenger Learning Center – This is definitely one of those places to visit in Tallahassee Florida to sit and take a break for a while. Plus it isn’t just educational films, they get access to popular new releases. For showtimes and admission prices, visit challengertlh.com.
5. River Boat Ride At Wakulla Springs – Located in neighboring Wakulla County, this escape into nature not only offers a trip down a gorgeous body of water, but also swimming, camping, trails, and more.
As you can see by the photos, it is pretty hard not to find beauty all around.
The River Boat Ride At Wakulla Springs runs 365 days a year weather permitting and lasts 45-55 minutes. The cost of the tour is $8 for adults (13 years old and up), $5 for children (ages 3-12); under the age of three there is no charge. FYI, there is a FEE to enter the park as well.
