Something fun and a Mom WIN that I wanted to share.
I am all about using the resources that I already have on hand. Whether with strips of paper, crayons, or upcyling items, I try to be resourceful with the ways I teach my children.
I work with my Toddler on what we refer to as “Momma School” and last week we started talking about shapes. I had cut out pieces of paper to represent the Circle, Square, Star, and Triangle, however this did not really pique his interest.
He loves hands on activities, so I started to brainstorm. This is how I began Teaching Shapes To My Toddler With Kinetic Sand.
I grabbed a container of Classic FisherPrice Babys First Blocks that were actually my 9-year-old’s original set, and gave them to my toddler. He took a few and started pressing them into the Kinetic Sand.
The Kinetic Sand was actually bought as a Christmas gift to encourage hand-eye coordination, and here I was using it as a teaching tool. FYI this product is recommended for children ages 3 and up.
Little Man of course thought it was neat making the objects, and as he did it we discussed what the shapes were.
Parent Tip: Put the Kinetic Sand on a Cookie sheet to reduce mess.
Have you used Kinetic Sand as a teaching tool? What other items have you repurposed to educate your children?
Learning and playing at the same time is my kind of education!
