Thanks to Heinz Vinegar and PAAS Easter Egg Dying Kits, I was sent a package of items to help decorate eggs. In addition, I was provided information to help spread the word about a great application that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation!
From Now Until March 31, 2013 Heinz and PAAS Will Donate a $1, up to $25,000, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation With Each Virtual Easter Egg Decorated and Shared via their App!
Want to make your own egg and support this great cause?
Simply visit the iTunes App Store, search “PAAS/Heinz” and download the FREE app to create the egg. If you don’t have an iPad, you can simply visit heinzpaaseaster.com to create an egg on your desktop or laptop.
I let my 7-year-old son create our egg, and I emailed it out to family members. The application was extremely easy to use, and he had a lot of fun playing around with different looking eggs. If he decided he wanted to change it, he could simply erase what he had made, or start over. I felt great knowing that he was having fun, and we were making a difference for a non-profit organization.
In addition, this year PAAS has seven new egg decorating kits on the market! The products in our package included Heinz Distilled White Vinegar, PAAS Color Cups, PAAS Touch of Velvet, PAAS Volcano Explosion, and PAAS Deggorating Doodles.
My kids and I decided to try out the PAAS Color Cups, PAAS Touch of Velvet, and PAAS Deggorating Doodles. Each one got 6 eggs to decorate, and I told them to make them anyway they would like. They first dipped them in the PAAS Color Cups that had dyes created with the Heinz Vinegar and the enclosed tablets.
FYI, Heinz Distilled White Vinegar not only can be used for the egg dye, but can also be used to help prevent eggs from cracking and to make peeling easier. Simply add two tablespoons per quart of water before placing the eggs in the pot. You can find this product at most grocery, drug, and mass market stores at an average retail of around $1.34 for a 16-ounce glass bottle. Visit www.heinzvinegar.com for more product information.
They then got into the PAAS Deggorating Doodles. This kit came with dyes, markers, and stencils. My son decided to just free style with the markers. This worked out great since a couple of eggs had some cracks and this helped cover up the boo boos. (I’ll be sure to add the vinegar the next time I boil eggs.)
My daughter who is 4 tried to use the stencils, but decided she wanted to do what big brother was doing and colored all over hers as well. It made some interesting yet beautiful looking eggs.
We allowed the eggs to dry under the fan for a bit, and then came back and put on the PAAS Touch of Velvet. This is done simply by attaching double-sided stickers and then rolling those stickers in the velvet powder.
The kids and I had a great time putting this project together, and they had a wonderful time using their imagination and creativity.
PAAS egg dying and decorating kits can be found at most grocery, drug, and mass market stores at an average retail of around $4.25. Visit paaseastereggs.com for more information.
