Chuggington has an all-new DVD, called “Icy Escapades”, and my kids and I were sent a copy to review here on Frugal and Fun Mom! As always, we were excited to get this, because we are HUGE fans.
For those of you who may not be familiar with Chuggington, it is a contemporary CGI-animated TV series created for preschoolers. It can be seen on Disney Jr and the story line follows the three young trainees, Wilson, Brewster and Koko, as they learn to become independent trains, and learn how to work together on various projects.
The DVD “Icy Escapades” features six seasonal episodes, plus a bonus Badge Quest short, filled with upbeat stories and positive messages for preschoolers. Theses episodes include “Chilly Chuggers,” “Snowstruck Wilson,” “Wilson’s Icy Escapade,” “Heave-Ho Harrison,” “Hodge Sails Away” and “Rolling Reporter Wilson.”
I t was really nice to sit down with my kids and watch this DVD. A few of the main topics are listening, asking permission, and following directions. Often times, the “Chuggers” are put into danger because they don’t follow these simple ideas. Especially in 1st episode “Chilly Chuggers”, Koko doesn’t listen to the older trains warning of danger, and potentially puts herself and others in harms way. I find myself trying to teach these same things to my own children, so I find these episodes very relevant. And, I really like the opportunity to use this as a teaching moment.
