I am looking forward to seeing MARVEL’S AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and hubby and I are probably going to make it a date-night movie.
My kiddos aren’t quite old enough yet to appreciate the film (PG-13), but that doesn’t mean they should have to miss out on all the awesome comic book festivities. We happen to be huge Captain America fans and between clothes, toys, and even the shield, we are showing our Steve Rogers pride.
My little guy and I decided to celebrate the May 1st film release by making Red White and Blue cupcakes. If you would like to recreate these, the details are below!
Captain America Inspired Red White and Blue Cupcakes
Yields 12
What you will need:
1 – 16.25 oz Box of White Cake Mix
1 to 2 Containers of White Icing
Blue and Red Food Coloring
Optional: Red and Blue Sparkle Icing and Patriotic Colored Muffin Cups
Directions:
Prepare the White Cake Mix according to the box and preheat the oven to the specified temperature. Then divide the batter into 3 parts.
Leave one bowl white. Then add 34 drops of Red food coloring to one bowl and combine. Then add 12 drops of blue to the other bowl and combine.
Next, pour 1 tbsp of Red batter into each muffin cup. Then 1 to 1 1/2 tbsps of White on top of that until the Red is covered. Finally repeat with the Blue batter. Be careful to not mix.
Place these into the oven and cook according to the box directions. FYI, since this is a thicker cupcake, I had to add an additional 5 minutes onto my time.
Be sure to do a toothpick check and allow your cupcakes to completely cool before decorating with your favorite icing.
I was so excited with how the inside of these Red White and Blue Cupcakes turned out! Plus, they were tasty and the kids loved their patriotic cupcakes.

Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders co-star as, respectively, S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
