I am always looking for ways to entertain my kids without having to put them in front of the TV. One way I have found to do this, is to have them decorate a pizza.
This is a craft that can be used to teach your kids about the letter P. You can have them decorate their pizza with only things that start with P, like Pepperoni, Peppers, Peanuts, Pickles, etc.
Or, they can let their creativity flow by decorating it anyway they like.
After they have decorated it, you could then use it to teach your kids about numbers or fractions by cutting it into parts. Either way, they have a ton of fun.
Also, if you have some extra time, you can cut out pieces of construction paper to look like pizza toppings and then have your kids paste the pieces on the pizza.
This is an inexpensive craft and you may already have most of the items sitting in your home.
Here is what you need for this activity:
- Paper
- A bowl to trace a circle
- Crayons
- Any other art supply you would like to use on the pizza
As usual, some children may need more supervision than others, so always use caution when working with scissors or glue/ paste.
All you need to do now is put the bowl on the paper, trace it, and then hand your kids the paper.
Give them a little instruction on what to do, and then let your kids have a great time.
