Since this kiddos started the school year off at home, some days my younger son has had free time while his sister is still working.
One day last week I needed to keep him distracted as she finished up her work so I thought it would be fun to introduce him to Blue’s Clues through Blue’s Clues & You! Caring with Blue DVD.
Initially I thought that he might be to old to want to watch this series, but the timeless themes, using manners, and fun songs even drew him in.
I have to say that I have lots of fond memories of my oldest son who is almost 15, watching the original and I am glad that my youngest enjoyed it as well.
Since he had so much fun with this DVD, I also went ahead and made the kiddos Blue’s Paw Cookies. Details on how to make your own are below.
What you will need to make Blue’s Paw Cookies
Sugar Cookie Dough (Homemade or premade)
Blue Food Coloring
White Cookie Icing
Blue Cookie Icing
Directions:
First Bake 12 – 2 inch sugar cookies and allow them to cool. Then, squeeze the white icing in a bowl and add in 2 drops of blue icing. Stir this until it is completely combined.
Next, ice the cookies with the light blue icing. Set these aside for about 15 to 30 minutes until the icing is firm. Then, make paw print shapes with the darker blue icing.
Tip: When using the dark blue icing, start with the least amount and spread the paws out. When it settles it will run together if you put too much or too close. It took me about 3 tries before I figured it out, so you can learn from my mistake.
Once the paw prints are on, allow this to set again for 15 to 30 minutes and then your cookies are ready to be eaten.
My kiddos were impressed by my first attempt and I already have a request for another batch. My son also asked if I could also make Magenta Paws, so I envisioning the same but with pink!

FYI, I thought it was great how the episode “Getting Glasses with Magenta” explored a visit to an eye doctor and the process of getting glasses. It definitely made it not scary for kids and this DVD was great about discussing kids emotions.
