Transitioning from summer into a new school year can be tough for kids.

Establishing a different routine can be difficult, and from my own experience when you add in new subjects, different teachers, or switching classes, the first day or couple of weeks can be overwhelming at times.

To make sure my children are getting used to new routine, I ask a lot of questions about their day.

Plus, my husband and I look at their agendas and schoolwork and praise them on their papers that they bring home.

Whether complimenting their handwriting, acknowledging how well they colored an assignment, or making a big deal about a good test grade, I want them to know that we are paying attention.

Because of this, I thought it would be fun to create a craft to display kids school work for this upcoming school year. If you would like to recreate our Superstar Paper Hanger, this is what you will need.

– 5 Red Jumbo Craft Sticks

– Foam Star Stickers

– Glue

– 3 Round Magnets

– Clothespin

– Magic Marker

– Pencil

– Paper

FYI, most of these items can be located at your local dollar store or craft store.

Directions:

To get started with this Superstar Paper Hanger, first have your child brainstorm 6 positive words about themselves and then write it down on a piece of paper.

FYI, your child may need assistance coming up with ideas, but I am sure they would love to hear great things about themselves from Mom or Dad.

Next up, place the craft sticks in a design to look like a star. Once the star is arranged use the glue to adhere the pieces together.

You may need to adjust the craft sticks around a bit to position the pieces into a star shape you prefer.

Once set, allow the craft sticks to completely dry. Tip: If you are unable to find red craft sticks, plain will work and they could always be colored with a red marker.

It is then time to add the foam stars to the corners of the shape, and then glue the clothespin to the center of the star. Allow this to completely dry.

Once the star and the clothespin are set, take the magic marker and write out the positive words onto the star. This writing can be completed by either your child or a parent and is completed by putting the word Superstar in the middle.

Before you finish the craft, be sure to glue the magnets on the backside of the star so it can be hung on a fridge.

Once all the parts of this Superstar Paper Hanger are dried, it is then ready to display kids school work that you and your child is proud of.

Not only do they get to see their awesome paper displayed, but they will be reminded of why they are such a great kid.
