May 30, 2016 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 46 Comments

A special thank you goes out to Cat’s Pride® for sponsoring this giveaway as well as providing information and my family with goodies and items to donate to our local animal shelter.

Nikki the Cat

June is National Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month! See How You Can Help Alongside Cat’s Pride®!

I am a firm believer in adopting animals from shelters, in fact I adopted my cat Nikki from an organization called The Alley Cat Refuge. I find it difficult to talk about her since she passed away, she was a great companion and truly a sweet and loving cat.

Cat’s Pride® proudly donates a portion of each sale of Fresh & Light Ultimate Care Litter to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation.

Cat’s Pride® is excited to introduce consumers to their newest innovation in cat litter, Fresh & Light Ultimate Care as well as their partnership with Katherine Heigl and the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation as they work to end the needless suffering of animals.

Cat’s Pride Fresh & Light Ultimate Care

Cat’s Pride® Fresh & Light Ultimate Care lightweight litter is a 50% lighter and formulated with highly absorbent minerals and no fillers, guaranteeing 10 days of odor control, the strongest clumps and low dust and tracking. The product is offered in a 10 pound jug, in both scented and unscented hypoallergenic varieties.

In the “Cats are Complicated. Great Litter is Simple.” Campaign, Katherine Heigl is featured as a recurring character—a cat/owner couples therapist—who helps owners have a more meaningful and positive relationship with their cats. She continually reinforces how using the best-performing Fresh & Light Ultimate Care can reduce tensions all around and create healthier interactions between cats and their people.

Jason Debus Heigl Foundation Partnership Katherine Heigl

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation (JDHF) was founded in 2008 by Nancy and Katherine Heigl to increase awareness of inhumane animal treatment and support animal welfare efforts in this country. Established as a lasting legacy to a beloved son and brother killed as a teen in a tragic car accident, the JDHF is dedicated to helping companion animals by eliminating the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance.

Through the JDHF partnership with Cat’s Pride®, funds donated will go towards programs that include the relocation of pets from high-kill to no-kill shelters for adoption, funding of sterilization for cats and dogs, medical and training assistance for special needs dogs, grants to hardworking “boots on the ground” rescues, and working with animal welfare groups nationwide to increase awareness of spay/neuter, humane education and adoption.

Support this campaign by retweeting the details below!

Every cat we have adopted over the last 30+ years has been from a shelter. The only place to get them. Wish I could be the proverbial cat lady and adopt them all. I love cats! We have three in the house now and that has to be it!

We've always adopted our pets from shelters or have found them. I don't believe in paying for a pet- there are just way too many out there that need good homes. Currently, we have Atticus, our animal rescue dog. Previously we've had Sodie, our rescue cat, Bella, a cat I found wandering by the neighborhood creek with parasites and infections galore (she turned out to be a beautiful cat!!!), and Ruby, a dog we took when a client of mine went into hospice care for her recurring breast cancer. They've all been amazing animals and I can't imagine our lives without them.

If I ever had to look for a pet, I would certainly adopt from a shelter, but living in the country, all I have to do is check out the animals that are dumped! Right now we have 2 dogs who were about to be abandoned by their owners, and 6 cats, 1 found in a snowdrift at about the age of 6 months, 1 just wandering around in my yard and definitely showed me she had been a pet, and 3 who were given to my daughter to bottle feed after their mother was killed by a car and the owners couldn't handle that thought for kittens who still didn't have their eyes open! Not quite sure where Luigi came from--he came to live with me along with my daughter--but think he was a 'giveaway' as well. These may have never made it to a shelter, but I think we have done our share!

I just adopted my cat Munkie from the HC Humane Society about 6 months go. She is a brat and I love her. I actually got her for my older cat Tiger to play with and have a companion. I raised my Tiger from birth. My kids found him in a trash can tied up in a grocery bag when he was a newborn. People are cruel. He is the love of my life!! I would recommend adoption to everyone. Not only are you getting a wonderful pet you also have them already spade or neutered most of the time. If they are not fixed you will get a paper to get them done at no cost! They have their shots as well. Over the years I have adopted a few critters from the Humane Society! These animals sometimes are so happy they even know that you saved them. Huggs to all the pet lovers out there that have saved and loved them. There is a special place for all you animal lovers :)
