July 29, 2015 Carlee at Fun Learning Life 84 Comments

The following recipe for Italian Grilled Cheese With Garlic Mushrooms post is sponsored by Nature’s Harvest®! Opinions expressed are that of my own.

Italian Grilled Cheese

Today I am going to share with you an easy recipe I call Italian Grilled Cheese With Garlic Mushrooms which is made with Nature’s Harvest® Honey Wheat Made with Whole Grain Bread.

My family eats a lot of Italian meals and I was looking for a way to mix up the usual grilled cheese and incorporate their favorite ingredients. Well mission accomplished, and this combination is simple to create, an easy lunch or dinner solution, and an awesome way to add whole grains to meals.

Italian Grilled Cheese made with Natures Harvest

If you would like to recreate this Italian Grilled Cheese With Garlic Mushrooms Recipe for your family, you will need the following:

FYI, the instructions are for making one sandwich however you can make plenty more.

1 – loaf of Nature’s Harvest® Honey Wheat Made with Whole Grain Bread

1 – Container of Marinara (your favorite)

1-  Can of Sliced Black Olives

1 – Package of Pepperoni

1 – Package of Shredded Mozzarella

1 – 8 oz Container of Fresh Mushrooms sliced (White or Baby Bella)

1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder

1/4 Tsp of Salt

1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Butter

Garlic Mushrooms

Directions:

First prepare the mushrooms. In a pan combine the mushrooms, 1 Tbsp of Olive Oil, 1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder, and 1/4 Tsp Salt. Saute on medium until browned and remove from the heat.

This amount of mushrooms was more than enough to feed my family of 5.

Ingredients for an Italian Grilled Cheese

Next coat a separate pan with butter and set to medium heat. Then spread 2 Tbsps of mozzarella on one slice of bread.

Next add 6 olive slices, 4 slices of mushroom, 3 slices of pepperoni, and top with one Tbsp of mozzarella. Then place the second slice of bread on top of this.

Italian Grilled Cheese

Finally place the sandwich into the pan and cook until the cheese is melted and both sides are brown. Then serve with a side of marinara.

What is your favorite variety of grilled cheese? What other ingredients do you incorporate?

A lot of people are saying to add different meats. This is not a grilled cheese, this changed the entire sandwich. To make a good grilled cheese the important thing is to toast both sides of the bread in a pan using butter. No other ingrediants are necessary
